Kulap Vilaysack 00:10
Hello Add to Carter’s and welcome back to another episode I’m Kulap Vilaysack and I’m not quite done with my holiday shopping.
SuChin Pak 00:21
Wait, how much percent done?
Kulap Vilaysack 00:24
You know what our percentages you know? Like, if you eat a slice of pie, it’s still basically the whole pie, right?
SuChin Pak 00:31
Okay wait, Let’s, let’s walk us back. Okay, what was the deadline that you gave yourself that by this date you were going to have all of your gifts covered what was the deadline?
Kulap Vilaysack 00:42
November 1st.
SuChin Pak 00:44
November 1st, we’re recording this.
SuChin Pak 00:48
Tip top of October. So you have a month, you can do it. And how many at this current moment in time have you finished?
Kulap Vilaysack 00:56
Yeah.
Kulap Vilaysack 00:58
One and a half percent.
SuChin Pak 01:00
Listen, could I, this isn’t my engine, it’s not my bus.
Kulap Vilaysack 01:05
I know.
SuChin Pak 01:06
But I’m gonna suggest.
Kulap Vilaysack 01:08
What?
SuChin Pak 01:09
That you, speed it along of it. And again. I don’t want to be saying that. Just helping you achieve the.
Kulap Vilaysack 01:21
My goal.
SuChin Pak 01:22
That you set for yourself by not one holiday is done for you and you’re going straight for, for almost two months of like just tree time.
Kulap Vilaysack 01:32
Yes, December shall be sacred.
SuChin Pak 01:36
Okay,
Kulap Vilaysack 01:36
Let’s just walk through this, it is all stress
SuChin Pak 01:38
Stressing me out
Kulap Vilaysack 01:39
The same and all stresses everybody out I get it ,I get it. But so all of October I shop right, and then now
SuChin Pak 01:41
Yeah
Kulap Vilaysack 01:41
one is about decorating. And then December I’ve preserved, and preserved it for what, for Come What May, for Mary meant, for a joy making for a prop to caroling.
SuChin Pak 02:04
Yes. Okay, got it. So October’s gift shopping,
Kulap Vilaysack 02:08
Yes,
SuChin Pak 02:08
November is decorating,
Kulap Vilaysack 02:10
Yes,
SuChin Pak 02:11
Shopping.
Kulap Vilaysack 02:12
Yes,
SuChin Pak 02:12
And then, and slash we’re going straight into, just holiday merriment around.
Kulap Vilaysack 02:20
And also, okay, we have to take a quick break for Thanksgiving. We honor that time as well. As you know, I host, there are things that need to be done. There Google Docs to be filled. There are shopping there around that holiday as well. I enjoy Thanksgiving. But then, the day after Thanksgiving, we shut it down and it’s smooth and to sanitize.
SuChin Pak 02:42
I need to write something down.
Kulap Vilaysack 02:44
What is that? What are you doing?
SuChin Pak 02:45
Nothing. I’m just going to make myself a note.
Kulap Vilaysack 02:48
What’s that?
SuChin Pak 02:49
Thanksgiving is also on the calendar. All right. Well, listen, it’s October. It’s fall.
Kulap Vilaysack 02:55
Yeah,
SuChin Pak 02:55
It’s festive. We’re gonna get into our carts. This is just like a, this is like a fun. Where are we today?
Kulap Vilaysack 03:02
Yeah, in the moment.
SuChin Pak 03:03
This is the calm before the storm. But no, it’s not. It’s the calm before the storm for me and you, are in full holiday mode. It is two ends of a kooky spectrum. This is Add to Cart. What do we say who we were?
Kulap Vilaysack 03:19
Yes, we are two kooky little odds. Just, clip clopping are our way adding to cart, here and sharing just you know a little pieces of our soul.
SuChin Pak 03:32
Yeah, yeah. I mean, I would argue, big chunks.
Kulap Vilaysack 03:35
Big chunks. big chunky chunk.
SuChin Pak 03:37
This is the only time, that I have ever on my calendar where I sit in my feelings. And I talk about, where I am.
Kulap Vilaysack 03:47
Yeah.
SuChin Pak 03:47
So this is a, this is for me. I’m SuChin, should we get into our carts?
Kulap Vilaysack 03:52
I think so. I think this is a classic Auntie, check in, what is in the wind, and what is bitwixe our legs you know, what’s the temperature both ways? Both areas? What’s the time?
SuChin Pak 04:03
Okay, good, good, good. I like it. I like it. Now before we get into the, the nuts and bolts. The crusty almonds of our carts. What is the temperature bitwixe?
Kulap Vilaysack 04:13
Bitwixe the legs?
SuChin Pak 04:15
Bitwixe your legs, bitwixe your pits. All of it. What is the temp? What’s your mood lately?
Kulap Vilaysack 04:23
My mood is great. My sister, Anita is in town. She wants to relax but you know there are things that need to get done for an event that’s coming up. And so there, there are checklists that need to be checked there, there.
Kulap Vilaysack 04:37
Oh, that’s your favorite type of relaxing.
SuChin Pak 04:39
It’s true we need to source things before, we purchase them. So
Kulap Vilaysack 04:44
Oh God,
SuChin Pak 04:44
There’s that. Yeah, what’s wrong?
Kulap Vilaysack 04:46
You are in heaven. You are in heaven you love a checklist, you love a project. You love sourcing oh my God.
SuChin Pak 04:55
I love you to source.
Kulap Vilaysack 04:56
This merchandising expert, out Yeah, so he’s you know, I have a two year associate’s degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. It’s a merchandising degree. Thank you so much.
SuChin Pak 05:07
Of course, I never forget and this, I whenever I look at your feed, when I see the posts that the photos that you post on our feed, of the stuff that we get that I never take pictures of, because I see yours and I’m like right, two years, merchandising got it. Totally different. Do not compare yourself. You did not get trained for this. Your photo of that looks like a hot pile of shit. And hers is merchandise.
Kulap Vilaysack 05:35
I mean, if we were to just zoom out a little bit in any photo that you take, we would see the just the detritus of your life there would be plates, and.
SuChin Pak 05:46
I did text you, I don’t remember when it was, but we were texting about some other things. And I said, I’m still feeling feisty Ku, and you said, Wait! this may, what was it you sent me something about the moon?
Kulap Vilaysack 05:58
Oh, yeah, it was a full moon in Aries. We just as a super moon in Aries.
SuChin Pak 06:02
Super Moon in Aries. You sent that to me and I was like, wow, this is actually right on and how I’m feeling, I’m not feeling negative. I’m just feeling very feisty. And then I sent you a picture of my desk and I loved it that’s.
Kulap Vilaysack 06:15
What she’s referring to the crumbs of your life you know you don’t always give me everything unfortunately you kind of sometimes you stiff arm me. I’m being honest. You stiff arm me, like I can’t get in where I want to get in sometimes. But you give me enough to like have a like a meal.
SuChin Pak 06:30
Yeah, I don’t want to scare you with the scent weed. I just want a waft of.
Kulap Vilaysack 06:34
Yeah.
SuChin Pak 06:35
Of my life to come in and out because the stench is overwhelming .
Kulap Vilaysack 06:38
It, yeah. And then she’ll slip a photo which will be so revealing, of a wide shot of her life that I can zoom into that I can get into. And I noticed on her desk, amongst many things, up right like the soldier that Deanna Chang told us about right beside her desk is the NIRA , ready to go.
SuChin Pak 06:59
Reporting for duty. Reporting for duty. It’s the perfect place for the NIRA. Because when I sit here, and I’m looking at my YouTubes and I’m scrolling my Net-a-Porter, let’s be honest, my out net.
Kulap Vilaysack 07:11
Yeah.
SuChin Pak 07:11
Just beeping along.
Kulap Vilaysack 07:12
Beeping a long.
SuChin Pak 07:13
Leads through my face getting young. You know, I like to multitask, you know. And, and so ,that’s what I like to do. Well, good. I, I like to hear that. I’m glad you’re in your element me to I, thank you for asking. I still feisty, still a little sweaty. Lots of things in my cart. But I’m also not buying things but also lots of things. I know it’s contradiction.
Kulap Vilaysack 07:37
Yeah.
SuChin Pak 07:38
Let’s get into it.
Kulap Vilaysack 07:38
Well, it might not all check out.
Kulap Vilaysack 07:41
And so one hour later, let’s get into our carts.
SuChin Pak 07:41
Yeah.
Kulap Vilaysack 07:49
Okay, SuChin, let’s start with you. I want to know.
SuChin Pak 07:52
Oh, me.
Kulap Vilaysack 07:52
Yeah, what’s going on with this wardrobe rotation idea that you’ve got for us.
SuChin Pak 07:58
I’m so glad we’re starting here. Alright, so I shared with Ku offline, that post-Paris, I needed to take a break from spending, I needed to reassess, I needed to, go into the holidays full steam. And so I needed like, a coughing period of like, let’s just tamp it down. And I was looking at my closet. And I was like, gosh, there’s just so much shit in here. Some of the stuff I wear. It’s like some is like, Oh, this is for parties that I never go to, Oh, should I have a meeting in person, this is the, the rack that I’ll use. None of those things are happening. I’m just, I’m taking a realistic assessment of my life. And it’s a beautiful life. I get up, I do whatever the fuck I want. In my own time. With myself, I don’t need what’s happening in my closet. It’s so overwhelming. And so I was like up, but I’m not a capsule wardrobe person. I don’t want to live my life in taupe. I thought of this idea. Have you heard of a toy rotation?
Kulap Vilaysack 09:00
I have, I have.
SuChin Pak 09:02
Okay, yes. So it’s a very tried and true method for parents, especially of young kids. You don’t want your whole house to be overrun with toys, you do a toy rotation. So basically, you divide the toys into groups. And it’s like, you know, anywhere between five and seven toys depending on how old your kid is. And then the rest of the toys go away. And for, for whatever amount of time, let’s say a month, two weeks, the kid only gets to choose from five to seven toys. And, it works because they can actually see and assess what they have. Everything gets played with. It’s appreciated. There’s fewer toys to clean up. And then the best thing is, you know, in a few weeks, it’s like Christmas all over again because they get a new crop of toys. And I was like.
Kulap Vilaysack 09:48
Smart.
SuChin Pak 09:49
This is how a wardrobe should be. Yeah, this is how my wardrobe I don’t need new stuff. I need to actually wear the stuff I’ve got. So I went through my closet, I cleaned everything out. And the system that worked for me, was five things in every category. So five sweaters sweatshirts, five long sleeve tops, five short sleeve tops, five pairs of pants and then.
Kulap Vilaysack 10:13
ASMR to me like this, whoo, I love a system.
SuChin Pak 10:17
And then that’s the only thing for a month that I will wear. And that’s the only thing I can choose from. The thing is, is I’m wearing weird things. And I realized that I’m wearing a Jimmy Dean sweatshirt that we got. Yeah, for free. And there’s no reason why I’m wearing this other than it just happened to be like, yeah, that’s gonna be my sweatshirt for the next month. There is something obviously liberating, but just opening my closet and seeing empty shelves, empty hangars. And the fun game is is what you think you’re going to be wearing, may not actually work but you got to make it work. That’s the game. So, I’ve got some weird things in there that I’m gonna make work because I don’t wear my weird clothes. And so now I get to wear them. I have this like weird button up orange cape-like, cotton shirt. I bought on Instagram one day, tags still on it. Guess what, in the real fucking rotation? I said, God dammit, you’re wearing? I’ve tried it different ways. I still haven’t worn it. It’s okay. I’m only three days into my wardrobe rotation, it will get assessed and so I’m excited for, the bizarre and appropriate, not identifiable, clothing options, and I will be busting out.
Kulap Vilaysack 11:48
Well, obviously we need to see photos. If you could please submit those that.
SuChin Pak 11:53
No mighty one. Nobody wants this.
Kulap Vilaysack 11:57
Yes, they do. They do.
SuChin Pak 11:59
Nobody’s gonna do it then, this is my version of wardrobe rotation. How would about invite? I’m not saying you have to do it. But maybe there’s someone listening would like to do a wardrobe rotation with me. And, and you can see another version? I just want people, as I launched my wardrobe rotation campaign. You know, I’m launching it here.
Kulap Vilaysack 12:21
Yes, you are here.
SuChin Pak 12:22
This is.
Kulap Vilaysack 12:23
No.There is an element.
SuChin Pak 12:25
I don’t want people to think that this is what wardrobe rotation is. It’s what wardrobe rotation for me is.
Kulap Vilaysack 12:32
Okay, fine, but let’s see it. And also we want to be entertained, don’t we? Don’t we want to see what’s up? I mean, you’ve sold it to us. Let me see the proof. Also, Su, you say you don’t want a capsule wardrobe. But this is your version of a capsule wardrobe.
SuChin Pak 12:51
It is my version of capsule. I’m gonna throw nothing out. I’m gonna still be wearing kooky things and in kookier combinations, because, what I’ve predicted in my mind is, not well thought out. But that’s what I’m stuck with.
Kulap Vilaysack 13:06
Okay, why not? Okay, so for the example of the shirt that you’ve tried multiple ways that has not worked, why not? let that one go?
SuChin Pak 13:16
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, that’s not. That’s, that’s thing. That’s not what my wardrobe rotation is. No, I am going to make that work. I am going to put, I’m going to put a brooch on it. Maybe scrunch it up.
Kulap Vilaysack 13:31
You’re not a quitter, and I love that about you.
SuChin Pak 13:34
I’m going to put a mock neck under it. I’ve got ideas.
Kulap Vilaysack 13:37
Okay.
SuChin Pak 13:37
This is my canvas. I’m ready to paint it with all the colors that I have. Anyway, so that’s the wardrobe rotation my version of it. I’m excited for someone out there. I invite you to get, into this wardrobe rotation and maybe maybe you can see other versions Kulap what I just want to say is it’s mine is going to be weird. Yeah. Yeah, it is. And it’s the intention that.
Kulap Vilaysack 14:03
I love that, instead of bracing of it, lean into it SuChin, we’re finally seeing the true Su. Everyone else, aside from the listeners of Add To Cart thinks Su is a certain way. They have memories of Su being a certain way. But this is SuChin Pak, as she is and it’s gorgeous, as some follow up questions. So where are the rest of your clothes? Where do they live it, while this happening?
SuChin Pak 14:31
Okay, well, I mean, I’m lucky enough to have a garage.
Kulap Vilaysack 14:34
Great, great.
SuChin Pak 14:35
And I’ve got clothing racks.
Kulap Vilaysack 14:37
Great.
SuChin Pak 14:38
And so I just, like shove it under there. And it’s Yeah, and that’s what it is. And that’s gonna be great because next month, every single item that I’ve got.
Kulap Vilaysack 14:47
Goes back in the garage.
SuChin Pak 14:50
Well, I guess I could keep some of it. It just has to be five for me five in each category that felt like a good number.
SuChin Pak 14:58
I love a system.
SuChin Pak 14:59
We shall see.
Kulap Vilaysack 15:00
Okay, great.
Kulap Vilaysack 15:09
Just this past week, we Added To Cart a last minute trip to Las Vegas. So you went to Las Vegas is less than 24 hours. Scott and Adam Scott, do a podcast, you talking you two to me. And Adam was invited, and he, we were able to tag along to the opening of the sphere in Vegas. And we saw you two.
SuChin Pak 15:34
No way.
Kulap Vilaysack 15:34
UV sphere, if the show.
SuChin Pak 15:38
I’ve seen this on Instagram.
Kulap Vilaysack 15:41
Yes.
SuChin Pak 15:41
Just was insane.
Kulap Vilaysack 15:43
It was insane. So the sphere is essentially, right by the strip. And it is an immersive video and audio experience which includes like a 16k resolution wraparound interior LED screen, speakers with beamforming and wave field synthesis technology and 40 physical effects. So, I didn’t even know what I was getting into our friend Naomi Scott took photos of me because I was just jaw agape wide eyed, like what is happening like I.
SuChin Pak 16:18
Does it feel like because I saw some of the footage. It doesn’t feel like you’re floating does it feel like you’re you’re moving like what is the.
Kulap Vilaysack 16:26
No, no, not at all. So let me back up. So you two, has a new idea relaunching their tour with this residency in Vegas. It’s their album ox tongue baby with additional songs around it. And ox tongue baby as Scott explained it to me very much had a lot of visuals to us. It’s kind of a nice marriage. But it’s, it’s just this feeling of like, you walk in and it looks like it’s.
SuChin Pak 16:56
like, Is it like the planetarium like when you walk in and it’s you’re looking at the night sky almost. But it’s like an a dome.
Kulap Vilaysack 17:05
I can show you photos when you walk in what they have set up. It looks very like industrial. Little did I know that that wasn’t even like that’s just the screens. Like it’s the entire inside of screens, multiple screens. So and it’s 360, so that you everywhere you turn and craning your neck, so you’ve got them playing and then these numbers are coming up and shooting up towards the sky that makes it look like it’s like storeys high. And then it turns around and starts closing in on you like you’re in a box. It’s the coolest thing ever. The sound is as if, I think some people will feel differently because it doesn’t feel like a rock show. The sound is so it’s almost as if you’re standing there but it’s as if you have headphones on. It’s as if.
SuChin Pak 17:53
Wow, that’s how clear the sound is.
Kulap Vilaysack 17:56
Yeah, but you can almost feel like you’re at home in a way. So, so it was such a crazy and fun experience was so fun to go with our friends.
SuChin Pak 18:06
I love an impromptu. I mean, when do we ever do that? I can’t remember the last like, every once in a while like maybe once or twice a year. It’ll be an impromptu, but nothing like that. Like that’s like, it wasn’t the first show.
Kulap Vilaysack 18:19
It was the first show. Yeah.
SuChin Pak 18:24
Oh my god. Incredible, incredible.
Kulap Vilaysack 18:27
The day after I posted it on my Instagram, and people were asking about the outfit that I had. You know, Su, I went to, Taylor Swift as you know, I don’t think we even talked on mic that I went to Beyonce, two huge concerts. And with that both, of those ladies told me what to wear. They gave me a theme. And so I was in a place was like what did I wear? Why you two doesn’t give that information, I’ve just been accustomed to be told, you know, with Taylor was pick an era with Beyonce. She was like, I need you to wear your silver, your five silver. And you two I was like well okay, I’m gonna put something together. And so I went with, my playsuit from Dressed In Lala, the black and white, I mean it’s, it looks like.
SuChin Pak 19:17
A pixelated dome, in some ways.
Kulap Vilaysack 19:19
Thank you.
SuChin Pak 19:19
You know? If you we’re on theme. Okay, go on.
Kulap Vilaysack 19:22
And then my product sandals which I think we’ve talked about in passing, but they are giving us like 90s, it’s foam rubber sandals. We got a big, chunky, chunky heel. And then I did you know a classic maidwell jean jacket and oversized trucker jean jacket.
SuChin Pak 19:43
And you were ready. You were ready. You looked cute. You were ready for anything. Really in that out.
Kulap Vilaysack 19:49
I was ready for everything. Now just to connect it to what we were talking earlier. I told our mutual dear friend Naomi Scott that I, I would be finishing my Christmas shopping by Nov. one and she was like you’re stressing me out. And I was like, You sound just like SuChin.
SuChin Pak 20:07
I mean, look, I’m delighted. I’m delighted.
SuChin Pak 20:07
Yes. Yes. Thank you, Naomi. You’re so is it like, the thing is, is, not only are you stressing me out, but like because I’m stressed, like Mike the other day, he’s like, why are you stressing me out? Why are you talking about holiday stuff right now? Because I started to think about like, Well, I’m gonna need a different table, a bigger table for my holiday village. So I’ve kind of been looking around and trying to figure out like, what do I do? Is it a two tier system? You know what I mean? Like, not aggressive, but it’s on my mind. And I just kind of mentioned it in passing. And he was like, I’m not having this conversation. So.
SuChin Pak 20:33
It’s intense. I mean, there are listeners who are like, totally psychs, and I know there are listeners who are fucking stressed.
Kulap Vilaysack 21:01
I wanna say most people hate it. They don’t like it. And I know that. I know that
SuChin Pak 21:07
You texted me an invitation, to go to your big traditions, the big holiday store.
Kulap Vilaysack 21:14
Traditions and an all deck. Yes.
SuChin Pak 21:16
Yes. To chop for all the ornaments and the Garland’s and the bells and the sheeps with your friends. And I was like, Ah, I mean, I want to say yes, but like, this is stressing me out.
Kulap Vilaysack 21:29
Yeah. You tried to say can I bring my daughter in? The answer’s no. The answer’s no. This, this is adult.
SuChin Pak 21:36
This is, this is adults. This is kneepads. This is poise pads, like we are not messing around. No, I know. That’s why I was like, I just, I need this to just, I need to get back down to my schedule. Yeah. Like this is your schedule, but it’s hard to hold ground. It gets really odd.
Kulap Vilaysack 21:56
And just for the record, September 16th. This woman right here, went into Michaels and purchased two holiday pieces for her Lamax. And I have not, I just want to make that point. Let it be clear. And I have not done anything in that regard. So look, chicken or the egg, chicken or the egg.
SuChin Pak 22:19
I’m taking. Apparently, mood you because I’m already getting. Yeah, I send you that video. I went into Michael’s for something else, obviously. And they had their first markdown of the season of my Christmas Village. And I had a coupon baby. I had a $35 coupon I had to spend it. And so I well, I was with my daughter. And I said let’s get two pieces. And this is what I’m talking about. Like I’m stressed out, like I need to just like, I need to know that like all in good time. Oh,
Kulap Vilaysack 22:57
What if I’m telling you that this is a good time. This right now is a good time. And I’m looking at.
SuChin Pak 23:03
We shall see.
Kulap Vilaysack 23:04
My office right now. And I went to target the other day and I purchased a very big tote. When things come through. I put in that my gifts come through I put in my tote. And I’ll wrap that later.
SuChin Pak 23:18
You have a gifts tote that you bought a plastic. You guys. You just created a whole career around our shopping. That’s the other thing I realized.
SuChin Pak 23:32
You stand on the shoulders of your ancestors. Your, your parents, your grandparents, their parents could never even dreamed of this reality. You have shot halfway to the moon.
Kulap Vilaysack 23:32
What?
SuChin Pak 23:32
As I was walking around in my Jimmy Dean sweatshirt, drinking this magic elixir that was also sent to us. I was like, Wow. I mean, people talk about manifesting and I always kind of feel like is that true? Is it not? But here I am a walking fucking manifestation of all my dreams, my hopes and desires. I’ve made a career out of shopping. Wow
SuChin Pak 24:12
Yeah, I just wish that like I wasn’t buying all of it.
Kulap Vilaysack 24:16
You liked doing it?
SuChin Pak 24:18
I do.
Kulap Vilaysack 24:19
You like doing it.
SuChin Pak 24:19
Wish that some of it. Yeah, we got it. Yeah, that’s the thing. It’s like, yes, of course we get gifted so much. But I’m also like, but I buy so much more. The ratio was not working out.
Kulap Vilaysack 24:32
By the way. If it comes to the mic, that’s the sound of my trash panda. Molly Ringwald Ackerman snoring beside me I can’t make her stop. This is just going to be the soundtrack of this recording. The last thing I’ll bring up before I hand you the baton is, a must mention travel and basic life essential Game Changer for me . And this is not an ad even though I love to read Lululemon ‘s ads. But this is the Lululemon men’s commission long sleeve shirt. I, am obsessed. These are just button front long sleeve shirts, that are soft and there’s four way stretch. Now we all know my body type, right? I got a, I got a heavy front. And this fits unlike any other shirt. It’s not tugging or pulling at the breast disses.
SuChin Pak 25:28
Yeah, because I feel like that would be that’s like, wearing a button front shirt for you, I bet is a tricky fit. And you’ve tried probably tried so many, at least in this cotton fabric. You know, like, sure drapey fabric, but something like this that’s a little bit more structured.
Kulap Vilaysack 25:47
It’s structured, I like to wear rolled up, like the fabric sweat wicking. It’s quick drying, anti stink designed for all day. So, it was perfect for traveling. I have right now I have it in white, and I have it in sort of a, it’s the green color, which I think they call. So you also have it an enzyme. Yes. And it just, I just look so like put together. And I love to wear it with like, cut off jean shorts, or like any type of pants. Honestly, I’d like to get you in one of these. Su, I really would like to get
SuChin Pak 26:23
You I know you’ve sent me this link before when we were doing our Lululemon shop you were like you have to.
Kulap Vilaysack 26:28
You have to, it’s a classic fit.
SuChin Pak 26:30
Okay, okay.
Kulap Vilaysack 26:31
I mean.
SuChin Pak 26:32
I’m doing it. I want it in the harbor blue. Love it.
Kulap Vilaysack 26:35
I was deciding between the harbor blue, and the enzyme, but I think I might go back for the harbor blue. I think it’s just such a good basic look, capsule wardrobe, SuChin wardrobe. I mean, you can just wear it in so many different ways. So I’m just saying, just saying.
SuChin Pak 26:55
oh, yeah, I’m gonna get that. I’m going to make it really weird. It’s going to be awesome. And I’ll take a picture of what I do with that shirt. You take a picture of what you do with that shirt and I’ll take a picture of what I do in that shirt.
Kulap Vilaysack 27:08
Sold, done, please just go.
Kulap Vilaysack 27:19
Alright, Su, let’s get into your cart. Let’s get back there.
SuChin Pak 27:23
Okay, I’ve got two things in my cart one. I don’t know if I’m the last person to have discovered this service. It’s a shopping site called Weee! for Asian and Latin influenced groceries. So I was looking at one of these YouTube videos that I love watching, people make food, trying to get ideas. And she was like, oh, yeah, I get all my Asian groceries from Weee! and I was like Asian groceries. Surely I haven’t lived in Santa Barbara for almost three years complaining to everyone. I know that there’s no Asian grocery here. Not even really like a Korean restaurant, even in town. And nobody has told me about Weee!?, Weee! is a W. E. E. E.
Kulap Vilaysack 28:12
Well, nobody’s told you is because most your friends live in LA. And we have a lot like, why would we know about that? I live like, you know, Thai town is like five minutes that way. Like, we’re that’s the reason. We’re not gatekeeping.
SuChin Pak 28:24
My button in it, with Stop rubbing my little tissue in that. Yeah, okay, fine. So I’m the only one you’re right. And of all my friends, I live in this town that does not have an Asian grocery market. I, You’re right. I don’t think anyone I know, personally, in my phone lives in a town that does not have an Asian grocery market. Okay. So, it’s for all of you out there that don’t live in a town with an Asian grocery market that maybe don’t have time. Maybe your parents don’t live in an Asian grocery market town. And so you can have this delivered to them. But anyway, it’s a game changer. I have already since discovering it. I’ve had two shipments in two weeks. This is not an ad, paying full price doing what I do. But, it’s mind blowing to me that like I have lived this long here. And I didn’t know that something like this existed. So I’m getting all my sauces. But you know, what’s kind of nice about it is, is that they do a lot of like new kinds of stuff. You know, maybe you won’t see it in an H Mart because they’re online so they can take more chances. And so I’m discovering new things, new sauces, new condiments, and so I just love it. And I don’t know if it’s my area code, but I order it the night before and it arrives the next night.
Kulap Vilaysack 29:31
Whoaa…
SuChin Pak 29:41
So I just can’t say enough about this website. Do they have everything? No. But do they have 80% of what you need? Yes.
Kulap Vilaysack 30:01
Wow.
SuChin Pak 30:02
And so it’s just been fantastic. So that’s a game changer.
Kulap Vilaysack 30:05
That’s amazing. Su, that’s great.
SuChin Pak 30:07
So I was doing a little bit of research. The founder is a first generation Chinese immigrant, founded in 2015. And he himself was living like an hour and a half drive to the closest Asian market. And so he kind of came up with this to fill the hole in the market. And so I love that I love that it was like, he himself was like, this sucks. I live in a town where there’s no Asian grocery like me. And then here we are, wait , funny side note, I did the podcast Cash Cuties we’ve had them on. It was so fun. And, what they do is on this podcast, they go through your bank statement, and they ask you questions about it. And so, Stephanie went through and she was like, I just want to ask you, I’m so confused. Because 60% of what you’re eating is Mediterranean, and only 3% of what you’re eating is from Asian restaurants. Like, I just really didn’t think that that was you. And I’m confused. And I was just dying. I mean, the fact that like, only 3% of my restaurant spending instead of hardware is Asian restaurant, and I only like to eat Asian food. And 60% is Mediterranean just shows you. This is where I live.
Kulap Vilaysack 31:19
100%. Yeah, but and like the Asian food is like you’re making it.
SuChin Pak 31:24
Yeah, no, I’m making it’s like the Asian food is fine here. But it’s you know, I’m eating ramen, maybe you know, out that kind of a thing. But yeah, I’m making all the Asian food. But I just thought it’s so if I’ve eaten so much Mediterranean foods, so much Italian food, and, you know, I’m not eating Asian food out. But anyway, she thought that was funny. And she and I had to explain to her where I live and.
Kulap Vilaysack 31:46
Look, you again. I’m getting little, little tastes, you know, because in my mind, you’re not going out. You’re not going out very much. So the fact that like, I’m hearing that you’re out and about, you know, wow, wow, more I’m more things for my file. She’s going out. And she’s going
SuChin Pak 32:02
I didn’t want to get into it because it’s a tangent. But when they said Mediterranean is a very specific, it’s one place it’s Luna grill. You know what Luna grill is? It’s like that. It’s like a fast food. Like Mediterranean restaurant. And so my kids like it.
Kulap Vilaysack 32:18
There you go, there you go.
SuChin Pak 32:20
Last game changer. And this is a game changer. A truly, truly a game changer in every sense of the word. It has changed my life. So do you know of Andrew Huberman?
Kulap Vilaysack 32:30
My therapist brought him up to me.
SuChin Pak 32:33
Okay. Andrew Huberman is the, I mean, he’s the guru of our generation. You guys know who he is. So, you know, he’s a neuroscientist. She’s just everywhere. So it’s called the non sleep, deep rest protocol, an SDR. It’s 10 minutes. It’s not a meditation. It’s not an affirmation. It’s not because Andrew Huberman is the, is very, you know, he’s very bio hacky tech burly kind of a thing. So it’s not chakras. You know, all that stuff I love to listen to as well when I’m meditating. This is totally different. This is 10 minutes, of a non sleep deep rest to enhance the learning process. It reduces daytime fatigue, I’m reading off of the description, it improves focus, it can also enhance your sleep, boost your mood, and promote neuroplasticity, okay. And it’s 10 minutes of him guiding you through this exercise. And because I’m such a terrible sleeper at night.
Kulap Vilaysack 33:40
I was gonna say.
SuChin Pak 33:41
Sleep to it. I’m not only falling asleep to it, but I’m pretty much playing it on and off throughout the entire night. So if you saw what my playlist was, you know, in the middle of the night, it would be this an SDR protocol four, five times during the night. And it has helped me to get back to sleep. I think that people you know, when you’re tired, and you’re like, God, I would love to take a nap right now. I’m so tired, but I can’t because I can’t fall asleep or I don’t have the time or I’m not really in a place where I can do that. Doing this for 10 minutes can give you that, energy boost that like rested feeling and it’s something about the way that he’s doing it something about the process and the focus of this 10 minute rest period. That works. It just works. So I am putting it out there. Everyone should try it.
Kulap Vilaysack 34:36
Wow. Su I love this for you. I think it’s explaining this Joie de vivre that I’m getting.
SuChin Pak 34:43
The spiciness?
Kulap Vilaysack 34:44
The spiciness, like this, you know?
SuChin Pak 34:46
Yeah. Well, I’m curious to hear from everyone who tries it. I mean, I really want to hear if it works for you guys as well as it’s worked for me.
Kulap Vilaysack 34:54
