SPEAKERS

Kulap Vilaysack, SuChin Pak

SuChin Pak  01:30

Hello, Carter’s welcome back to another sweaty episode of Add To Cart. I’m SuChin Pak.

Kulap Vilaysack  01:36

And I’m Kulap Vilaysack, aka sweaty and thirsty. It’s June which means we’re welcoming summer with tanned open arms here on Add to Cart.

SuChin Pak  01:47

I mean, somewhere. Listen, Kulap. Christmas is your jam.

Kulap Vilaysack  01:52

Yeah, yeah.

SuChin Pak  01:53

I know that. Y’all know that. Sometimes Christmas starts even in the summer for you, but we’re not gonna go there now. but summer is my jam. We’ve talked about this.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:04

This is when the kids see their mommy truly is.

SuChin Pak  02:09

This is when the lion comes out. Her mane is flowing. Okay, I’ve got my Capri leggings in the pool. This is, this is where time is of no value here in my house. I get up when I want to get up and I eat what I want to eat. I just throw nuggets at the kids. Maybe they’ll get a smoothie for a vegetable. And that’s that I am clocked out.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:38

You’re alive. You’re thriving. And I you know, I want to wave this flag with you. I don’t know what the summer will bring. But all I know is that my Su is showing off her ankles. And isn’t that glory? Isn’t that a flag that we should all waive.

SuChin Pak  02:55

And by the way, if you know I every year I like to take my little trip to Paris my little ahjumma trip to Paris to get all my little plastic carts and my plastic bags full of Parisian discounted things. And this year, this decided this year we decided let’s do a summer trip to Paris. I’m also looking forward to that. So you know this summer is the summer of me. It just lots of airflow in places that have been shut in all winter. You know, lots of wicking away moisture.

Kulap Vilaysack  03:30

Oh like, because normally you’re so anti draught. But now the windows are open. We’re living in an indoor outdoor lifestyle with SuChin Pak’s body. Let’s get into my cart, SuChin as I get grayer or silver foxier.

SuChin Pak  03:48

Oh, thank you.

Kulap Vilaysack  03:50

I am finding myself wanting to dress younger and you know, I think, society and a lot of my friends probably you too may not cotton to that. So Su, I want to, tell you about a clothing line that I was lured by Instagram. And it’s called Dressed In Lala. Dressed In Lala is is bold. It’s young. It’s Oh her sigh So what do you want vibes are you getting from from the homepage?

SuChin Pak  04:25

This is exactly what you said. It looks like a mature woman who is still living her Coachella lifestyle.

Kulap Vilaysack  04:36

That’s right.

SuChin Pak  04:37

But with more sunblock, and like a chunky sneaker, you know.

Kulap Vilaysack  04:41

Yes. And that is how I’m wearing it. But like let’s be clear. This is made for our associate producer Tiffany to lest we forget is 14 years old. That’s not true. She’s She’s older than me. But this this is made for a younger gal.

SuChin Pak  04:56

I love it. Tiffany just texted in the chat child labor Hey, I’m already on this Lala original satin place suit and ultra check.

Kulap Vilaysack  05:06

Yeah, I am again. A woman who at this time is 43 years old and she’s wearing something called a play suit with the book is a playsuit.

SuChin Pak  05:17

I mean playsuit.

Kulap Vilaysack  05:19

Su i think that yeah.

SuChin Pak  05:21

The word, is it a chord?

Kulap Vilaysack  05:23

You asked me that question and I’m pausing because I don’t know the answer.

SuChin Pak  05:27

Okay? This is our famous Lala satin playsuit. First of all, it’s in satin.

Kulap Vilaysack  05:32

Su it’s got a semi mockneck and the sleeves go down.

SuChin Pak  05:36

No I I’m thinking about this.

Kulap Vilaysack  05:39

Right.

SuChin Pak  05:39

Thinking about this. Thinking about this.

Kulap Vilaysack  05:42

Because it’s it’s not unlike your target sets and Su, so I’m styling this with my products that you like my product sandals with a chunky lug so.

SuChin Pak  05:54

I got a knock off at Target and it is heavy on the knock and off. But I’m not paying those product prices but I get it.

Kulap Vilaysack  06:02

Yeah, you get the look. Point is you’re getting the look. So I’m about this. The other thing that I’ve purchased from them is this world needs your magic puff print pullover. And it is oversized. It was so oversized. It’s like they call it a majorly oversized fit. That when I got the large XL, it was like too big because then I scrolled down my looked. It’s equivalent to a unisex three XL. The small is equivalent to a unisex XL and then the large is equivalent to a unisex three XL. These are the sizes I like to see in brands. I like to see in a brand, baggy, oversized, the older I get, the baggy or my clothes get and I’m comfortable in that. By the way these young girls look comfortable in it.

SuChin Pak  06:55

I liked it. This is where the trend is going.

Kulap Vilaysack  06:58

I headed to oversize bold, you know and I’ve purchased more we don’t have to get into it but like this is what I’m about you know like.

SuChin Pak  07:05

And the price point you tell him the price point of this magic puff print pullover and blush which I’m going to get.

Kulap Vilaysack  07:12

Yes so the front of it has a huge smiley face. And it’s $72 and the back of it says the world needs your magic and it makes me happy. This is amazing. This is what did you call this the other day endorphin dressing. Did you tell me about endorphins dressing what is that again?

SuChin Pak  07:29

I feel like my interpretation of that is just wear clothes and colors that make you happy. That excite your endorphins that give you that rush you know like this oversized pink sweatshirt with a big happy face on it is the epitome I think of endorphin dressing.

Kulap Vilaysack  07:48

And that that’s it. That’s where I’m at. You know like I have all of the basics that one could ever hope for I got your T shirts. I’ve got your you know, when we did Family Feud, sorry, Celebrity Family Feud. I, they the producers, they asked for like bright colors SuChin Pak and I looked at my wardrobe and really I have all day long. Black, white, gray, and navy. All day long. I have that. And for this summer. You know what? Let’s go bold.

SuChin Pak  08:22

You know, this reminds me a little bit of you know, whose style I love past guests at Sukkot. Oh, yeah. And our tea. She is to me, that’s endorphin dressing. Like everything she puts on. I’m like, That is her that makes her happy. And she looks hot.

Kulap Vilaysack  08:40

Yeah.

SuChin Pak  08:40

She looks hot. You know, like sexy, in whatever she’s wearing. And so it’s funny you bring this up because I was going to talk about an Add to Cart. Have you heard of this phrase like 1/3 Ugly dressing.

Kulap Vilaysack  08:56

I mean, we’re just showing our ahjumma like style here. I saw a headline and then made it up in my head but please tell the truth.

SuChin Pak  09:05

Well, I also made things up in my head. So this is my interpretation of it. I saw it on Abby Arad’s, Instagram first and then I did a little bit of research. And it was coined earlier this year by a stylists name. A fosse zo Patra, but basically, she’s like, You, uh, you want to be 1/3 Ugly, okay, in your wardrobe. So 1/3 of what you’re wearing either your top your bottom or your shoes is ugly. And so what she means by ugly is that it’s comfy, it’s slouchy, it’s something that you you’re probably can wear to sleep. It’s cozy. That’s what she means by ugly Okay, so it’s ugly is a very like in quotes heavy quotation mark. And I just love that I love to me it’s like the idea of dressing just for yourself or not dressing for the male gaze is the privilege of getting older. are like in terms of fashion like that’s what excites me is like what’s gonna get my gals talking? What I’m gonna get me.

Kulap Vilaysack  10:07

I dress for my friends. I don’t care. I really don’t care. I love Scott. But it’s like, you know, that’s that was that’s I’m sorry dressing for him that’s in the rearview mirror like see.

SuChin Pak  10:19

He’s been there,

Kulap Vilaysack  10:20

He’s seen it. He’s seen it all. I’m showing my friends my tits now.

SuChin Pak  10:26

And we love seeing them. We love seeing them when I see them on my endorphins get. But this kind of reminds me of it. Right? You get these like oversized things. And then you pair it with your Prada sandals. You know, and your Gucci sunglasses. And you dressed 1/3 Ugly.

Kulap Vilaysack  10:45

1/3 ugly.

SuChin Pak  10:46

1/3 Ugly. I mean, I say go two thirds ugly. But hey, that’s just me you do you thank you.

Kulap Vilaysack  10:52

Thank you. Su, I almost have to believe that you already know what I’m about to talk about next. I for an event that we both that I wanted to break out all of my Lao Silver. And it was pretty tarnished. And.

Kulap Vilaysack  10:54

So we tell people, cuz I saw the stunning Laos silver, but when you’re hearing it for the first time, you may not understand what it is. What do you mean by Lao silver?

Kulap Vilaysack  11:12

Well, Su, I’m struggling to explain it other than that, it’s like silver working from Laos. And so it was just like various like, filigree.

SuChin Pak  11:23

But it’s jewelry?

Kulap Vilaysack  11:24

It’s jewelry. It’s jewelry. So sorry. so I know jewelry. And so I hear like a matching set of earrings, necklace pendant, I had bangles on.

SuChin Pak  11:24

I had these are these pieces that you’ve just collected over time?

Kulap Vilaysack  11:48

Yes, I think I first started collecting them when I was 27, I think around 2007 When I went to Laos, and then I got a lot on that trip, and then just kind of pick stuff up here in there. And it goes from just like very like chunky to like really fine workmanship. And so when it gets tarnished, it’s hard to just wipe off with one of those silver cloths. And I did do that and I got it and it made it look better. But I was like I think we can go further. So then I did a Google search, and came upon this recipe for how to clean silver with a homemade cleaning solution. So I what I was saying earlier is like, I bet you are like I have to guess that you already know about the solution because it’s very SuChin Pak, maybe I’m wrong, but basically Su.

SuChin Pak  12:43

Yeah.

Kulap Vilaysack  12:43

All you need is like an aluminum or glass pan, large enough to submerge your silver. And then you line it with aluminum foil. And you put down your silver making sure that like your silver pieces aren’t touching one another. You lay them down and you put on top of it table salt and baking soda. So let’s say it’s you know, you know two tablespoons of tablespoon, two tablespoons of baking soda. You just like dust it over. And then you put boiling water on top of it. Until it like just covers it basically, you let it go for like three minutes. And then with either wood or plastic tongs you flip it over being careful not to have the silver pieces touching. And you do another three minutes. SuChin Pak. When I tell you gleaming, gleaming. After about last three minutes. You got to dry you wipe it again.

SuChin Pak  13:46

I nigh. I Night and day.

Kulap Vilaysack  13:49

Night and day. Yes, it also just it’s so the science is so satisfying to doing like a science project at home. And just like the bubbling. And then you can kind of see the pieces like the pieces of dirt falling off. like sticking to the foil. it is a ASMR.

SuChin Pak  14:09

It is like taking a little tiny silver spoon to your nieces ear. Yeah, getting in there. And then you see that one large piece of wax and you scoop it out? Oh shivers down my spine.

Kulap Vilaysack  14:24

As you know I’m a jungle Asian and I have juicy wax but uh, yes, yes, that’s what it is for you.

SuChin Pak  14:30

And you will never know that feeling.

Kulap Vilaysack  14:33

I will never know that feeling.

SuChin Pak  14:34

It’s another sense. How many senses do we have? We have six senses. It’s the seventh sense. It’s the seventh sense of when you are getting a long piece of wax pulled out of your ear by an auntie. That will give you a piece of juicy fruit gum at the end of it for sitting still for her that chill down your spine as the seventh sense.

Kulap Vilaysack  14:57

Yeah, that’s well that’s what we call visual umami.

SuChin Pak  15:01

Disgusting.

SuChin Pak  15:05

Little side note to this is this thing that I’ve been wanting to gift you.

Kulap Vilaysack  15:09

Oh, listening.

SuChin Pak  15:10

I keep forgetting. keep forgetting to like that part. So just bite your damn self. I went into this gift store in LA one time you ever go to a gift store or a shop where the shopkeeper is like a shopkeeper, again, he goes to the conventions, she travels, and she hand picks everything in her store. And as I was leaving, I was wearing, you know, some of my vintage rings and all of that she was like, Oh, I have the most amazing product. It is called shinery. And it’s a hand soap, or you use it like a hand soap. So you pump it in your hands. You keep the jewelry on, you know your fingers, or whatever it is. You can at least and you wash your hand like you normally would. Okay? And something in the solution, which by the way, doesn’t use chemicals. It’s plant based. I don’t even know what’s in it. That’s we’re laughing I was like what is in this I washed my hands. I did not take my rings off. I wash my hands and this soap, these gorgeous vintage rings, which I thought were pretty clean. Sparkling every crevice and corner.

Kulap Vilaysack  16:25

Wow. Wow, this is very this is a hot hot number. So it’s hot number 2240.

SuChin Pak  16:32

2240 on Amazon.

Kulap Vilaysack  16:34

Silver, gold and diamond Fine Jewelry Cleaner.

SuChin Pak  16:38

Yes, this is just like washing your hands with a clean soap. Like how is this doing all of this to jewelry? So it’s a really interesting product. I have failed to mention it forgot about it until you talked about cleaning your Laos silver.

Kulap Vilaysack  16:53

Yeah, yeah. Because I think what I’m what I’m describing, I would only do silver, whereas this can do pearls this can do.

SuChin Pak  17:01

Oh, and was and it’s like an everyday thing. You have it in your bathroom. You know, and you know, once a week or twice, whatever it’s like it’s a very easy thing. You don’t have to get out any tools. It’s just all of it. It just makes sense. I think it’s a fantastic product.

Kulap Vilaysack  17:16

Yeah, that’s great. Because even Keegan will talk about you know, think about like those these these. The cloths is your hands just get so dirty from it and it takes How long does that take?

SuChin Pak  17:43

I’ve never even done that. I always never, you know, rub them down.

Kulap Vilaysack  17:48

Sorry. Don’t rub them down.

SuChin Pak  17:49

I’ve taken so much of our time, you have something very interesting to talk about.

SuChin Pak  17:58

Well, I was just thinking about what I wanted to add to cart. I was thinking about summer. And I was thinking that a lot of us are probably traveling with friends. You know, we’re doing barbecues or socializing more, that’s wedding season. She’s a lot of, you know, socializing happening during the summer. And I’ve been meaning to talk about this issue of New York Magazine that came out like back in January called the etiquette issue. It’s the best magazine issue I’ve seen of any magazine all year long. And the cover is, is everybody tipping 25% on bottled water. What do I do if I gave my boss COVID? Can I discipline my friends, children, etc, etc. All these kinds of things that we now live in that like, we’ve never really had rules around, right? Like, do we you send you know, thank you notes for gifts now, all of these kinds of things that come up, like what is the right appropriate emoji that you use when someone uses this emoji? I just thought it was a really funny in depth look on like, what does it mean to live in a world today with people? And so anyway, so I love this issue on some of the things that I loved coming up and I want to share them with you that New York Magazine had said was perfectly acceptable. So adding all of these to their cart was you may callously cancel almost any plans up until 2pm.

Kulap Vilaysack  20:15

On the day.

SuChin Pak  20:16

Yes, on the day, unless I think there was like a, an addendum there. Unless it’s something like they’re cooking a meal for you. You know what I mean? Like hosting a dinner, then that’s, that’s totally unacceptable. And you have to do 24 to 48 hours before.

Kulap Vilaysack  20:31

Wow, you to me? That’s really.

SuChin Pak  20:33

Yeah.

Kulap Vilaysack  20:34

Addition.

SuChin Pak  20:35

Like, permission.I know. I’m pulling this out. I’m like, 2pm, that may push it that I feel like for us in our generation that that feels like I need a 24 hour.

Kulap Vilaysack  20:49

Yeah, especially for our generation when plans or a dinner might start at like, let’s be real six.

SuChin Pak  20:55

Let’s be real. 530.

Kulap Vilaysack  20:57

There we go. That’s moron.

SuChin Pak  20:57

Oh, sunshine, SPF dinners. It’s true. It’s acceptable to tell any kind of lie in order to leave a drink state. So for all those out there dating, summertime, you want to get a little drink. You can leave at any point. And you can say any kind of lie you want. That’s not a real lie. I loved this one. If you go someone stay gone forever.

Kulap Vilaysack  21:19

I understand it. I agree with it. But I’m curious what they The reason was.

SuChin Pak  21:23

Well, it was like, if you’re going to go someone if you’re going to be that person, which we’ve all done it. And we’ve we’ve all had it done to us. Don’t come back six months, a year two years later, asking for something. Be like, you know what? I mean? Don’t come back yet. Oh, hey, kiddo. Is is your company hiring? I am thinking about leaving my job. And you’re like, No, honey. That did me eight months ago. Now you don’t just goodbye. And this one struck me because I accidentally ghost people all the time. And I’m thinking about it right now. Someone emailed me. I don’t even know how long ago. And I didn’t mean to go stir. It was just a question that I didn’t have an answer to at the moment. And I just remembered now probably a year later that I never responded. So I suppose I should stay gone forever. I don’t know what that is. But I’m just saying that was an interesting one. I found it to tickle my bottom because I was like, Oh, I have done that. I’ve ghosted and then I come back as if nothing has happened. And maybe I shouldn’t do that. That could be an annoying thing for people.

Kulap Vilaysack  22:39

Yeah.

SuChin Pak  22:40

This one was one of my favorites. Never answer a compliment with a compliment. I do that all the time.

Kulap Vilaysack  22:47

Okay, hold on. Hold on. Okay, so So Okay, let’s put this in practice. So I go. Oh, Su. I really love your eye makeup.

SuChin Pak  22:54

Oh my god. I love your eye makeup.

Kulap Vilaysack  22:58

Okay, okay.

SuChin Pak  22:59

Okay. This is what I do. Or like, or like the anti way will be okay, go ahead and compliment some.

Kulap Vilaysack  23:06

Oh, Su. I love your haircut looks great today.

SuChin Pak  23:09

Oh my god. I just $3 I got I got my haircut for $3 that my my this lady because my backyard and I don’t even know she does hair. I don’t know every once in a while. She’ll sell me a lemon and then I’ll say cut my hair.

Kulap Vilaysack  23:22

Oh, wow. So I guess my opinion was bullshit. And you basically just told me to go fuck myself.

SuChin Pak  23:28

But I think that there’s something really interesting never answer compliment with a compliment. And I was like, absolutely right. Number one. It doesn’t feel genuine even though 90% of the time when someone says a compliment to me I’m like, Oh my God, I’ve been meaning to say I love X. It doesn’t feel genuine. Okay, yeah, for to accept a compliment. You grown ass bitch. Stand up tall and accept that goddamn compliment. You shut your mouth and you say thank you. And you glow in it. You know that’s hard.

Kulap Vilaysack  24:05

I’m very very, very good. And I say thank you and I sit there.

SuChin Pak  24:13

I love it. You get this smile and you sort of like toss your head back and it makes it makes me giggle champagne bubbles. When when when you get it I love it. There Yes.

Kulap Vilaysack  24:30

Into this this Add To Cart is about all the effort.

SuChin Pak  24:35

All the investments.The munay.

Kulap Vilaysack  24:39

And if you recognize that, I say thank you.

SuChin Pak  24:44

She likes to really hit pause.

Kulap Vilaysack  24:46

Yeah, tape. I’m effort full not effort less.

SuChin Pak  24:51

Now this is one I want to ask you Ku okay, how do you appropriately thank someone for a gift in this digital age? Now we know we’re not writing things. thank you notes. I get it some people. I mean, that’s incredible if you do I honor that tradition, but generally, you’re not. So you do you get a gift. How do you thank that person?

Kulap Vilaysack  25:11

Well, speaking from experience with Amy, and like all the gifts, like I did hand written notes, up until a point, like I did a lot for like the first second third wave. But sometimes I think people like was built specifically for Amy a picture of her wearing it a picture of you know.

SuChin Pak  25:34

Thank you.

Kulap Vilaysack  25:35

If not me a picture of the thing or picture of me using it. People enjoying Voice Memo at all times? I think.

SuChin Pak  25:44

So. Voice Memos are great. Send me a goddamn picture of what I sent you with a big ol smile on your face. That’s all. I mean, I’m sorry. You and I love to give gifts. I give gifts. And a lot of times I give gifts because I want to know if that gift is worth passing on to other people because it’s maybe a new company or something I’ve tried on. And I’m like, Can I see it? Like was it worth it? Like, you know, like, I want to see how big the basket was like, it was hard to tell online chance. Anyway, I just think it’s to me, if you get a gift, send a picture of you with a gift.

Kulap Vilaysack  26:24

I was texted, add to cart that.

SuChin Pak  26:26

I love this issue. It just it brought up a lot of things. Even the first thing on the title. Okay, so I’m asking you, nowadays when you go right, you swipe your card. So you’re buying a bottle of water at a cafe, you swipe your card, it’s always add tip. Yeah, that it wasn’t obviously wasn’t like that before. So I’m like, am I adding tip to a bottle of water? What’s the answer? What’s your answer?

Kulap Vilaysack  26:51

Um, I’m probably not at well, okay, if it’s just a bottle of water. I don’t know if I am. I don’t know, if I am there. If I if it’s something to be made. If I look at somebody and I get a vibe, maybe I’ll tip a little bit, but you know, I think I think no, I think I’m not.

SuChin Pak  27:10

I mean, their rules on tipping are really interesting. And so there’s like a whole section on tipping. And they kind of say 10% You know, and something like that something small because it’s like, it’s going to the workers like blah, blah, blah. But like this is a new thing. Like we knew I didn’t grow up in a world where you know, you you swiveled around an iPad and then everybody looked at you as you hit custom tip $1 or no tip. You know, it’s like, you get shamed into tipping. So I just thought was an interesting because there are times.

Kulap Vilaysack  27:46

A bottle water though, if anything if there’s like, if I’m grabbing the bottle of water and I’m holding it and they don’t even touch an item. I don’t know if I’m tapping 10% I don’t know if I am now if they I’m getting a croissant. If without water if I’m having it’s different for me, you know like I am and I do think it’s up to me to decide. And I am over tipper so I feel like karmically I’m like on point.

SuChin Pak  28:12

Yeah, yeah.

Kulap Vilaysack  28:15

This is a game changer Su, in the summer months, there are bugs there’s bugs all months but yes guys, some of those the gnats, you know, they, they come, they come and I, I am a person whose blood is quite sweet or if not sweet, quite alluring and attractive and I just welts and it only has only gotten worse. And I’ve tried many different sprays I’ve tried you know non toxic, toxic and they do fine I found some good ones that we can talk about later. I’ve tried some devices various devices like the catchy like many above zapping situation now SuChin Pak I’m bringing to you a game changer.

SuChin Pak  29:04

I’ve already added to my storefront I’ve added to my cart. I’m traveling with this.

Kulap Vilaysack  29:10

Yes, it is the safer home indoor fly trap. It’s a multi insect killer basically all of his Su is it’s it’s like a nightlight and so it’s a blue light that attracts the bugs and it’s got sort of a glue trap. It’s a glue trap and it looks so benign. And there I say pretty attractive as you plug in and it is so effective. SuChin Pak.

SuChin Pak  29:40

Wait, are you actually take the glue trap out and there’s bugs on it on the glue trap. Yeah. Oh, it is and then you replace the glue traps so you can see what it’s.

Kulap Vilaysack  29:50

Yes, SuChin nothing has been so.

SuChin Pak  29:54

Where where do you have this?

Kulap Vilaysack  29:56

It’s inside. This is just for insect so that each One is for like 400 square feet of protection. So I have one on every floor. And especially in the spring there for whatever reason, and I have a lot of plants in my house, but there’s a lot of gnats. When I tell you gone 44 When you pull it and look at the glue drop 40 on it like 40 Little gnats. And on top of that mosquitoes, too, and I’m just like, I’m replacing them. I’m checking them probably every three days and if you know looking at the OSHA to replace it, but every time I do it is so satisfying. You know what it’s like so it’s like, remember Biore strips?

SuChin Pak  30:40

Yes.

Kulap Vilaysack  30:42

That’s what it’s like, like, take out your blackheads as yes, I’m off but instead of blackheads. They’re mosquitoes gnats, sometimes moths, game changer and I want to say so save for home. Of course makes refillable when you purchase it I think it comes with like three or four of these glue traps and they make refills but I’m also sharing with you is these bootleg ones that you can get at Amazon these 24 Pack refill glue cards which are much cheaper to get and you know that’s the auntie way.

SuChin Pak  31:18

Is this going to be on your Amazon storefront?

Kulap Vilaysack  31:20

I def, I believe under my storefront it’s under Home stuff. but things are are there and.

SuChin Pak  31:28

And this is 7097.

Kulap Vilaysack  31:30

7097 for the device and some blue cards and then the 24 pack refill glue cards by dynatrap compatible with it is for 24 of them it’s 10 bucks. Why it’s worth it friends might tell you they’re worth it and it’s so so good. So satisfying, non toxic and effective.

SuChin Pak  31:54

Run run run run already already add to carted.

Kulap Vilaysack  32:00

It’s so do you, I mean is this an issue I’m conflict like the mosquito is a con.

SuChin Pak  32:05

Oh, mosquitoes forget about it but I am the screen nagger. Every Asian household has it. Close the screen, close the screen? Why are you leaving the screen open? Is the screen open, close the screen. I’m so sick and tired of hearing that tone in my voice. Also, every single window in our house has screens.

Kulap Vilaysack  32:29

Has a screen. She’s a screener.

SuChin Pak  32:31

If there isn’t a screen on, I’m not interested. I don’t care what it looks like, I don’t care what ad tour guide is coming through. There better be a screen on it. My life has to exist around screens. I’ve done the old school like traveled with the mosquito nets to Hawaii. You know what I mean? Because, the kids meet so we and I will do it. We’ll get it. You know we’re like walking around with beige welds well face Yeah, well, it’s in there. It’s obviously some kind of reaction. We both have it. So I’m so paranoid about it. And it’s the only time that I allow you know, sweeping as many chemicals as I possibly can when you travel to the summer places where there’s mosquitoes so this is very exciting to me.

Kulap Vilaysack  33:16

This is easy to travel with quiet, non toxic.

SuChin Pak  33:20

Just need electricity.

Kulap Vilaysack  33:22

Yeah. It’s Oh, Su. I cannot wait when you take photos. It’s so slightly perverse. Like I like send it to my friend Olivia. Like I haven’t like oh, look at this batch. Look at this. Like it’s so.

SuChin Pak  33:36

Awesome listening. If any of you guys are getting this, can we start a thread on the ATC? Instagram of Josh, show bugs sherida Bug send us your dead bugs. And I’m gonna do a carousel at the end of the summer of just dead bugs. And I’m getting this from my parents. Because all God bless them. Is any of the fruit not rotting in my mother’s kitchen. That’s my.

Kulap Vilaysack  34:01

Name one thing. Name that is not rotting.

SuChin Pak  34:05

You can’t, can’t so short episode. And I go there and I see the little gnats. And I get really anxious because I don’t know I don’t live there so I can’t keep on top of it. And I can’t tell her that she can’t keep this rotting fruit around. She can’t take a bite out of a banana one week. And then just wrap it in its peel and hope for the best Fingers crossed. You just can’t. You just so I have to get this for her. I’m going to maybe do a pre carousel of just the fruit flies and my parents kitchen.

Kulap Vilaysack  35:25

Yes, it’s very exciting.

Kulap Vilaysack  35:42

God Do you want to talk about summer cashmere SuChin Pak? Cashmere that you have branded yourself as summer cashmere.

SuChin Pak  36:05

Is there not such a thing? Because I think I just made a business. Hello. Maybe I’ll quit this podcast and start my fortune 500 Summer cashmere business. No Season is not cashmere season.

Kulap Vilaysack  36:22

Look, you are a coastal grandma. I mean, and you actually do live by the sea. So okay, go ahead.

SuChin Pak  36:34

Kulap. Our dear friend Deanna shared with us. A treasure trove of Everlane who sent you and I some products.

Kulap Vilaysack  36:44

That’s right.

SuChin Pak  36:44

And I got some cashmere from them because I’m always looking for good cashmere at a good price point. And I thought Everlane Of course they have basics on everything. They’re gonna have really good cashmere. That’s high quality and not that expensive. And boy was I right? And boy did you laugh at my list. He said only you during these summer months would request to try out their cashmere. So I’m hooked on Everlane cashmere. It high quality. It goes on sale all the time. So I just ordered the cashmere vest in the color kumquat that’s a nice bright orange for summer. I thought that would be nice. It was it’s on sale. And by the time you listen to this, they’re probably gone. I don’t know how much is 66 bucks down. Don’t down from one template don’t more we because they have so they are they’re always on sales. They’re cashmere. So I just wanted to give you guys a hot tip. Okay, you can wear cashmere in the summer. You do a sleeveless vest. Okay, you do that and your little shorty shorts if that’s what you prefer. I like to do with nice, pleated Pantalone with this, okay, that’s my beachwear and then if I feel like I’m going out to dinner, you know, I put on an adult bib underneath.

Kulap Vilaysack  38:11

I knew I knew what I was going to ask. I was going to ask.

SuChin Pak  38:16

Shown you but I just got some summer time bibs. What’s the summertime bib? You know, it’s a collar that’s got maybe a little organza, you know, maybe it’s like a tool. You know, maybe there’s like a few scattered diamonds you know, just for just for like a summer bling. And you put that underneath a cashmere vest. Hello, sophistic Kado This is how I do.

Kulap Vilaysack  38:46

Just double checking arms or bear in the scenario in the styling arms or bear.

SuChin Pak  38:50

Not for me. Yes arms or bear but I always like to put on a little cardigan but for you Sure. Arms or bear? Why not?

Kulap Vilaysack  38:59

Hold on but so hold on. Hold on, hold on. So, so that’s a long, pleated pantaloon. Again, this is June, a long pleated Pantaleon.

SuChin Pak  39:10

Long pleated pantaloon. Yeah, but it’s like it’s like a very voluminous pantaloon.

Kulap Vilaysack  39:14

So it linen kind of in that.

SuChin Pak  39:18

Yeah, exactly.

Kulap Vilaysack  39:19

Not tensile maybe, and then.

Kulap Vilaysack  39:22

Okay, so very little breathing and then we have synthetic, not very breathing but napali but some poly pad and then a cashmere vest V neck. Sleeveless underneath that you have a summer bib, and then you put on a long sleeve cardigan on top of that.

SuChin Pak  39:22

Not so much tensile. More tensile than linen. I’m not a big linen fan. I can just the wrinkles. She doesn’t want more than a tensile . It’s an umbrella fabric. And what I mean by Umbrella is that it’s a, it’s a rain proof umbrella type of fabric go on.

SuChin Pak  40:09

I’m bringing the long sleeve cardigan if there’s a little draft, when you go to the beach, it’s warm. Yes the sun but in the shade. Is there a little breeze that comes off the top of the waters?

Kulap Vilaysack  40:21

Yes.

SuChin Pak  40:21

Sometimes. Sometimes I need you can do a little shoulder hang.

Kulap Vilaysack  40:25

Yeah, okay. Okay. A little bit. You’re going.

SuChin Pak  40:29

You’re going to dinner. It’s air conditioned.

Kulap Vilaysack  40:31

Yeah, yeah.

SuChin Pak  40:32

All right. A little shoulder hang. Okay. Now if youre normal you do a vest some shorts you don’t do an adult bed you just let it let it all out there. But that cashmere vest is gonna keep like your organs from draft and that’s what I want to make sure that your, that your liver. Sure. Big intestines and your small intestines are not exposed to draft because I love you.

Kulap Vilaysack  41:02

Will you allow any sort of ankle peek? Are you are you still wearing hiking socks? Will you allow some sort of sandal in this in this ensemble?

SuChin Pak  41:12

It’s very rare. I wear a sandal without a sock. I don’t understand that concept. Like why wouldn’t you know what I mean? Like? I don’t know. I just there’s so many different types of socks you could wear you don’t have to wear the hiking sock I wear? I mean.

Kulap Vilaysack  41:28

I don’t have to thank you SuChin. I don’t have to.

SuChin Pak  41:32

But you know you go to the beach and sandals you want. You want sand in your toes. Oh god. I’m sorry.

Kulap Vilaysack  41:39

She’s gonna get sand all over this wool. Like you’re no no.

SuChin Pak  41:43

Yeah, but but then you just kind of like dust it off. And you just clap your feet before you get in? I don’t know to me. I just, I got I have foot issues. So always my feet are always so cold I can’t do I can’t do no it’s Add to Cart cannon and then also their bony Yeah, it’s it’s so bony that when I’m late the other day I did a sandal I thought it was warm. I should be able to walk in the sandal without socks. And it was rubbing in the weird places. And I had to put on a little shear sock.

Kulap Vilaysack  42:17

I have shear socks. You have like dress socks. Like dressy for you socks.

SuChin Pak  42:23

Yeah, like a shear dressy sock. I didn’t know that. Some would call it a nylon.

Kulap Vilaysack  42:27

Oh, but their socks? They’re not tight. Your socks?

SuChin Pak  42:30

No, no, their socks, they come up to the ankle. They’re shear of course the nylon material material. Yeah, I can do that. Like, that’s fine. You know?

Kulap Vilaysack  42:41

When does that come? When does that come into play? What’s the occasion?

SuChin Pak  42:46

When truthfully when I’m seeing other people and I don’t want them to judge me for wearing what I’m wearing? I’ll put on like a shear sock. I’m gonna say anything.

Kulap Vilaysack  42:56

When you’re with me and you know, I’m going to scream Darn Tough. from across the room.

SuChin Pak  43:02

I have worn a shear sock to your house. But I don’t like to go. I don’t, I don’t like to do that. I don’t like the feeling of a thong in my butt. And I don’t like the feeling of my foot in any type of shoe without some sort of encasing.

Kulap Vilaysack  43:18

Look at these videos, Su I want you to be you. I just I love these details. I don’t want you to wear a thong that’s all I want you to do that like.

SuChin Pak  43:29

Nobody wants me in a thong.

Kulap Vilaysack  43:32

Well, I disagree we could do a poll we could ask Lena to do a poll and.

SuChin Pak  43:36

I don’t need a poll I don’t need the poll I’m gonna pretty much bet my whole career, that first of all scientifically, I don’t know if even that’s possible.

Kulap Vilaysack  43:49

It’s possible you don’t want it you don’t like the feeling but scientifically,

SuChin Pak  43:55

But I got a lot of stuff, I got a lot of stuff strapped in down there. I just don’t know how a thong fits in I don’t just don’t know.

Kulap Vilaysack  44:06

Yeah. Boys pad if we’re like the level of lifespan.

Kulap Vilaysack  44:53

There could be a biker short there could be Yeah, I don’t know.

Kulap Vilaysack  44:59

You wouldn’t be putting the thong over the biker short.

SuChin Pak  45:14

I mean that feels more comfortable for me to be honest. Thinking about that. It doesn’t make sense but it way more comfortable thinking about it that way.

SuChin Pak  46:53

Anyway guys better show that summer, summer summer bed.

Kulap Vilaysack  47:01
