SPEAKERS

SuChin Pak, Kulap Vilaysack

Kulap Vilaysack  01:30

Hello, Carter’s welcome back to another episode of Add To Cart. I’m Auntie Kuku.

SuChin Pak  01:34

And I’m Auntie SuSu. Welcome. Welcome. Welcome.

Kulap Vilaysack  01:39

Welcome. Su we’ve talked a lot about Zouks period, but let’s go even finer Zouks cute really? Okay, I think we all have a handle on his philosophy and organization. Again, one equals 0, 2 equals one.

SuChin Pak  01:57

Three equals two.

Kulap Vilaysack  01:58

And then but, but counterpoint two, I think we’ve got quite a handle on your philosophy. Do you?

SuChin Pak  02:08

Oh, good.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:09

You like it reflected.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:09

Yeah.

SuChin Pak  02:09

I love to hear back what, my philosophy is.

SuChin Pak  02:15

I like it reflected so I can know it. So go ahead.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:19

Well, let’s flesh it out then.

SuChin Pak  02:21

Yeah, I’m not certain about it.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:22

Let’s flesh it out. And I know that it’s it has changed.

SuChin Pak  02:27

Okay.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:28

It’s evolved. You’ve got your yearly Parisian trip coming up.

SuChin Pak  02:33

That’s right.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:33

Right.

SuChin Pak  02:34

Annual trip to Paris.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:37

Annual trip to Paris. It’s it is this is your this is Su’s time.

SuChin Pak  02:41

Countdown that I’m recording right now is only because I love you. Because I have so much to do. Okay, countdown time.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:49

Now this is this will be the third trip since Add to Cart. Yes conception that we’ve lived vicariously and, and I don’t know if people understand but you really made me see is that this Paris trip is really the only time in Su’s life where Su can fully do you want. Other people’s needs.

SuChin Pak  03:11

No.

Kulap Vilaysack  03:12

No, it’s not. It’s not that’s not on the list.

SuChin Pak  03:15

No, no, not even the friend I got with my best friend Annie. Not even her needs are on the list. She needs to she takes a backseat. She knows I get one trip a year where I can be like fully irrational, garbage human. And I can’t even understand anyone around me if they’re talking shit about me. You know what I mean? So yeah, just full, full and free.

Kulap Vilaysack  03:41

And it makes sense that you need this refueling and you made me also understand about Annie. It’s like it’s not Annie goes to Paris all the time. This trip? She is there. Yeah, she’s in the backseat. But she’s like she’s also steering from back there.

SuChin Pak  03:55

Oh.

Kulap Vilaysack  03:55

She’s she’s helping you.

SuChin Pak  03:57

Only because.

Kulap Vilaysack  03:58

What you want to do I mean, that’s that is a good friend. True. True friendship.

SuChin Pak  04:03

No. no no no no no, she’s I mean, we could do a whole episode, on get you a friend like this. Yeah, who takes you to replace? I don’t look at a map. I don’t read a menu item. I don’t know where I’m going. I don’t know what time it is. I don’t know what we’re eating. None of it. All those decisions are made for me by someone who knows exactly what I want. And at any moment, it could change because of what I’m feeling and that’s also okay. And so.

Kulap Vilaysack  04:36

That is okay.

SuChin Pak  04:38

Yes, it becomes this. I mean, I like Paris who doesn’t like Paris but it’s, it’s not Paris. It’s this two weeks with Annie.

Kulap Vilaysack  04:48

Oh, yeah, we know you bought a pasta straining ladle that you could have bought a target here but, she bought it in Paris.

SuChin Pak  04:57

Yeah, it has nothing to do with Paris. so so.

Kulap Vilaysack  05:00

Was about Annie. I don’t think she would want to be in a tiny hotel where the shower is under the stairs, where you have to duck down and it’s dark and dank.

SuChin Pak  05:12

No.

Kulap Vilaysack  05:12

That’s what Sachin wants.

SuChin Pak  05:14

Well, that’s where you’re wrong. And that’s where the B comes in the F F. That pitches right there. She’s like, in fact, she’s like, Are there rates for rooms without windows? Did you check that?

Kulap Vilaysack  05:28

Wow, okay, I stand corrected.

SuChin Pak  05:30

Yeah. We are aligned. We are aligned. We are aligned.

Kulap Vilaysack  05:34

Windows. One time you told Dan and do to aim higher and I, I, I, reflected back on you.

SuChin Pak  05:42

Yeah, listen, it was a little bit of a shock that there were no windows. We I didn’t know that. When I booked the hotel. Yeah, you could probably guess at the rate, that there’s something that you have to give. I thought, okay, I don’t really need air conditioning. I’m uh, you know, I run cold. You know, there’s lots of things I don’t need room service. I don’t need a fucking turndown service, the chocolate on the pillow. And, you know, we’re I’m in full pre pack mode.

Kulap Vilaysack  06:08

Which is tough, because you’ve given me a little I kind of understand it unless you’ve changed what you told me very strongly you’re going to do but a month ago?

SuChin Pak  06:20

I’ll tell you, I’ve changed it. It’s like the clouds in the sky, minute by minute. It’s a new dawn, what did I tell you a month ago?

Kulap Vilaysack  06:30

Okay, a month ago, you were barely going to pack anything, because you were going to purchase, you said that you were going to purchase all your toiletries.

SuChin Pak  06:38

Still true.

Kulap Vilaysack  06:39

And, and you would only pack four pairs of underwear, which was just enough for the flight there. And it was just going to be about buying everything in Paris. And I mean, everything. Of course, I knew you didn’t mean soup to nuts, but I knew you were talking about beans. And by that I mean your pillow beans. I knew that was coming, I knew that your sound machine would be coming.

SuChin Pak  07:03

These are the non negotiables, all of that still is true a 100%. So the bones are there. And now I have to refine I have to refine I have to.

Kulap Vilaysack  07:13

I see, I see. Now I understand. I understand. You also texted our team and you said that your practice is irrational scarcity mindset fueled mania.

SuChin Pak  07:25

Yes, I S M F M for all those I S M F M out there, please give us a shout on the post of this irrational scarcity mindset fueled mania. That is That is my packing theory. So Zouk’s cube has Zouk’s cube. You know, he’s like, I don’t know, clean, rational pouches organized. Okay, let’s, let’s just say that some of the key words.

Kulap Vilaysack  07:56

Yeah.

SuChin Pak  07:56

And the key words for me are number one irrational, because I worry and obsess about the, I zoom in on things that need no zooming in on and everyone’s like, well, that doesn’t, you know, you can get poise pads in Paris, um, can you, you know, scarcity, you know what I mean? Like, I want to get the pouches, but I also have a lot of Ziploc bags that are totally fine. And that seal and are plastic, right? So but you use those Ziploc.

Kulap Vilaysack  08:26

Yes, but you can also use the Tom Bihn pouches that you were gifted. You also have those.

SuChin Pak  08:32

I also have those, but it’s a mindset, that’s the third M. You know, I’m not saying that there’s no rhyme or reason. I’m not saying it’s a universal thing. I’m saying it’s my mindset, that’s when I look at something expensive and beautiful. I think great. Let’s save that. You know, let’s save that for x. And that’s what I have. Yes, I have a bag full of plastic bag, a plastic bag for my shoes, you know, ziplock bag for my toiletries. My kids just went away for the weekend. I put all of their shoes in a Michaels plastic bag. I twirl that thing up and I tossed it in the tote bag and it was fine.

Kulap Vilaysack  09:16

I don’t believe for one second that you’ve designated one ziplock bag for shoes. I think it’s a free for all. I don’t believe that you wrote shoes on the outside of that.

SuChin Pak  09:26

Oh no, no, no, I don’t write shoes. But I do have a lot of plastic bags. I reuse in suitcases.

SuChin Pak  09:33

I believe that, I believe that, but I don’t.

Kulap Vilaysack  09:35

There’s a great.

SuChin Pak  09:35

Laundry bags, shoe bags, bathing suit bags.

SuChin Pak  09:35

Hot tip for I S M F M folks out there hot tip. You go into any decently priced hotel not the ones I’m staying up but most people are staying at a decently priced hotel and they will have a plastic laundry bag in the closet. Guess what? Take all of Jacob asked for more.

Kulap Vilaysack  09:36

Sure all Anything you would use a bag for.

SuChin Pak  09:37

So I have from some Radisson Inn or some Hilton, lots of plastic laundry bags. And these are the non negotiables when I travel to Paris that I have to make room for in my suitcase, my pillow.

Kulap Vilaysack  10:16

Your adzuki bean.

SuChin Pak  10:19

My pads.

Kulap Vilaysack  10:20

Your boys pads,

SuChin Pak  10:21

My boys pads. The third one is socks. Because I can’t just wear any socks, as you know. It’s got to be a tight will weave.

Kulap Vilaysack  10:30

Yep.

SuChin Pak  10:31

So do you know how much room a darn tough takes? These are really thick socks. So those three things that’s my carry on suitcase? That’s done, I have to figure out what am I gonna do with the underwear situation. So that’s where I’m at. That’s the mania that I’m at, you know what I mean? The last M and so I have two options that I can think of one is to bring a few pairs of underwear and then pack a portable washing machine that I saw, I suppose we will use it for camping. I’m not sure it’s like a plastic bag, but soap in there. Bla bla and then like, you swish it around and your laundry is clean. I could do that. Or I can just throw underwear away as I were in Paris.

Kulap Vilaysack  11:19

There are other things in between the binary that I just want to discuss.

SuChin Pak  11:22

Okay.

Kulap Vilaysack  11:22

One that you’re gonna you’re going to absolutely say no to and that Jason Mantzoukas brought up to you in our thread or side thread of his excuse.

SuChin Pak  11:29

Yeah.

Kulap Vilaysack  11:30

What about stopping a laundromat? Having him washed? And you’re already gonna say no, but I need to speak it for the listeners who are screaming it right now.

SuChin Pak  11:39

Okay. You mean go into like a coin laundry with with with a euro euro.

Kulap Vilaysack  11:44

That’s another option. But there are other places where you fluff and fold situation. Oh, I know you’re not going to do it. They don’t offer that I already know what to know, Su and I already know that you’re leaning towards just tossing underwear as you go. Okay, I know that instead of bringing a portable laundry situation. What about that and this has been on the strategist it’s basically you wash your clothes in the sink. You’re there for two weeks. You’re not moving right? So it’s your sink and you have like the instead of liquid you have the sheets the detergent sheets. You’ve seen those right? That’s good for traveling.

SuChin Pak  12:18

Oh.

Kulap Vilaysack  12:19

You don’t need a whole machine. You don’t need a portable for the so you’re washing it. Asian style. And then you hang dry. Why do you have to bring it in complete apparatus? What’s going on?

SuChin Pak  12:30

I just I just love you. I love that you are taking this so seriously. You know, I really do love that. Keegan just drop something in the chat. A laundry. So what is this? Amazon laundry soap sheets? Okay, 50 Count. Fair enough. Fair enough. So So I am leaning towards? No, I’m like, I was gonna throw my under I know.

Kulap Vilaysack  12:52

That’s what I just said.

SuChin Pak  12:54

Because thinking out loud, is there’s gonna be multiple changes.

Kulap Vilaysack  12:58

Yeah.

SuChin Pak  12:59

And so then I have to, carry those multiple changes. And then okay, and then I go back to the hotel. I’m just trying to think logistically wash all that underwear and hope it dries overnight. And then what if I wake up in the morning and there’s no dry underwear?

Kulap Vilaysack  13:16

Can we have enough for 48 hours?

SuChin Pak  13:17

Correct.

Kulap Vilaysack  13:18

Okay, great way past 48 hours.

SuChin Pak  13:20

This is the stuff that I zoom in on and I can’t find an answer. And the answer is right in front of me.

Kulap Vilaysack  13:26

Yeah. I’m gonna say like I your shrimp. And so what I mean to say about that, is that your underwear small. So I just feel like we can line your pants and your pockets with this underwear. It doesn’t even doesn’t even make it to the the carry on. Okay. It’s in your pocket, because I know you’re wearing a jacket. And no, you’re wearing a jacket on that plane.

SuChin Pak  13:47

Of course, of course I’m wearing a jacket.

Kulap Vilaysack  13:49

Yeah. And I also be the other thing you’re thinking aboutis like I have to carry these around. Well, you just shared that you got a shit ton of Ziploc bags that you carry at all times. And that’s where your stinky little panties go. While you’re cycling through parents.

SuChin Pak  14:06

Do you think that one day Paris will actually not let me in? Like I’m just dragging down the Paris brand. Like the bureau, bureau. Tourism of Paris is like no, no more. No more we have endured. We have endured you chipping away at the Paris brand. We have worked so hard for the legacy brand that people aspire to you are no longer allowed anyway.

Kulap Vilaysack  14:38

Remind the people though, because you’ve told me that when a Parisian sees you, yeah. Arriving upon a bike. What are they seeing what but well give us a sense. You’re a creature of sorts. What what like what.

SuChin Pak  14:52

Yeah, it’s it’s both disgust and fear. It’s disgust of like, Oh, she’s so sweaty. Ill you know I still wear a mask, you know in that says they hate that. Parissians, fucking hate it. When an American wears an M 90 Whatever mask inside they fucking hate it. And then it’s fear because I am carrying IKEA tote bags filled to the brim shoved in my lime bike in the front. And then it’s like bungee corded because there’s so many bumps and you know the IKEA bag doesn’t zip shut and so like I have been known to like drop screwdrivers and whatever other things I’m buying there because ha.

Kulap Vilaysack  15:43

Screwdrivers?

SuChin Pak  15:44

So cute. So cute. Such cute little screwdrivers and little, little purse like what do you call those like scissors and they just have cute little knickknacks like that I love a Parisian hardware store. Oh my god, I love it. And so you got to Bungie that down, you know, and you pull up to a restaurant, and they’re just like, we have no more tables, you know, and you’re like, Yeah, I see that there’s a table and guess what they also don’t believe in rights. You can’t say I have a right to you know, it’s like consumer rights. You know, no rights, no rights in Paris.

Kulap Vilaysack  16:20

You can see now.

SuChin Pak  16:21

No right to consumer. No, no, no capitalism. You know, customer’s always right. None of that you can’t does not translate in France. So you do what you do. And you get there. So that’s kind of it and then like I said, I don’t have room for close. That’s kind of all I’m bringing, and so I’m gonna get off the plane. It’s gonna be 9am The first stop after I eat straight to city pharmacy.

Kulap Vilaysack  16:46

Jason screaming right now he doesn’t even know why. He’s just he’s he’s traveling right now. And he’s just screaming and he he get he has an inkling that it’s like related to you.

SuChin Pak  16:56

Even the underthought, he’s any underthought he is not a sophisticated European traveler like myself. You get off the plane, you get your ham and cheese croissant. You get in the Uber, you rattle tattle all your fucking luggage with the wheels. Rattle tattle it over to city Pharma.

Kulap Vilaysack  17:16

First stop, and the first of many times that you will be at a city Pharma.

SuChin Pak  17:20

Yeah, because I like to buy all my staples at City pharma. I get my sunscreens, my cleansers, all that stuff. But I also like to try new stuff. And if I during the trip, if I really love it, I gotta go back.

Kulap Vilaysack  17:31

Yeah, gotta get your toothpaste.

SuChin Pak  17:33

Where else am I gonna get, basil flavored? Cinnamon dusted toothpaste?

Kulap Vilaysack  17:40

Well, when you put it that way, I mean, there’s no choice.

SuChin Pak  17:42

I think that that’s the strategy. I’m going there with one large empty suitcase, and then just buying all my extra luggage there.

Kulap Vilaysack  17:49

I hope we’re still maintaining that you’re not buying any more door knockers, right?

SuChin Pak  17:53

You sticking with that? No more door knockers. I’m not gonna do any more door knockers, and I’m not doing any more genes.

Kulap Vilaysack  18:01

I think as established on social media, you’re good for cutting boards as well.

SuChin Pak  18:07

My freedom is relegated to a cutting board. Sit on that, how about that perspective? And then you wonder why I have to go to Paris. My freedom is the size of a normal person’s cutting boys. Just sit on that.

SuChin Pak  20:17

Okay, let’s get to other Add To Carts. Dude, you and I have not, Oh, my God, I’m looking at your list. And it is major.

Kulap Vilaysack  20:30

It is major.

SuChin Pak  20:31

But there’s a theme. There’s a theme.

Kulap Vilaysack  20:33

There’s a theme, and it’s something that you are aware of, I forced you to FaceTime with me. WGA strike happen. And I got real antsy and real, like, what’s my place in the world? Sure. I wasn’t working before. But I had the option of striving towards it. And I lost myself. I lost myself, I lost my way.

SuChin Pak  20:52

Or you found yourself?

Kulap Vilaysack  20:53

Yeah, well, I certainly was looking for a way to control something.

SuChin Pak  20:57

And you certainly were looking for a way to satisfy that Bed Bath and Beyond, is no longer in business. Because guess what? Kulap’s open.

Kulap Vilaysack  21:06

I would have wiped him out. But truly, it’s like any psychologists would completely understand that this was about trying to I couldn’t I can’t control the chaos of my mind, or the chaos of this industry. But what I can do is purchase a shit ton of plastic stuff in containers to organize my desk. My vanity. My closets.

SuChin Pak  21:32

You guys, you have no idea.

Kulap Vilaysack  21:35

Tell them about your concern, too.

SuChin Pak  21:36

Well, I was concerned when I saw it, by the way that FaceTime was broken up into two sessions, because we couldn’t get it all in one.

Kulap Vilaysack  21:43

That’s, right.

SuChin Pak  21:43

And at first I was like, This is cute. And then when you get into the level, the detail of I was concerned, I thought, well, she’s about to tell me that I’m leaving my life.

Kulap Vilaysack  21:54

Yeah.

SuChin Pak  21:55

Or you know, or there’s some tragic news around the corner. And this is going to be like the funny way in, you know, I love a funny way into tragic news. That’s my that’s my way of breaking that two people. That’s like, You assured me that no, this was it. It wasn’t tragic. It was other things that were stressing you out. And this was control. But also, I think you were inspired. You inspired by the Zouk’s. And you guys are BFFs for a reason you, you love to organize. So let’s get into this orchestra. It’s hard to describe and it’s annoying to be like, Oh my God, you could see this.

Kulap Vilaysack  22:29

I send some photos off to our team so that they can post it. So it’s less than I was inspired by Zouk’s more that I follow this person Cami Loray on Tiktok. Okay, surgeons not on Tiktok. So, what maybe she’s most famous for is her restocking her elaborate and extensive ice collection. And she uses various molds to create various shapes and flavors of ice.

SuChin Pak  22:57

So it’s like you bought that ice mold.

Kulap Vilaysack  23:00

Yeah, and then returned it, some things you know, are amiss.

SuChin Pak  23:05

Okay.

Kulap Vilaysack  23:05

It’s, uh, she’s super, I would say type A clean organizational person. And so a lot of these items, which I purchased from her storefront.

SuChin Pak  23:15

And put into mine, were what’s the category on your.

Kulap Vilaysack  23:19

Great thanks for asking. It’s organization is sexy.

SuChin Pak  23:23

Okay, okay. I mean, it is sexy. It is a lot of people’s toes curling.

Kulap Vilaysack  23:29

Yeah. And so Su let’s start with my office drawer. You were saying?

SuChin Pak  23:34

The wires Look at this. Yeah, the cords who does that?

Kulap Vilaysack  23:38

I do. I do. And I didn’t before and now I’m the type of person who has purchased wire organization. I mean, what are they called? Let me name it so that people.

SuChin Pak  23:49

I mean, you can use hair ties.

Kulap Vilaysack  23:52

Yeah, I could use hair ties. Or I could use these Neo Rockall. 16 piece, silicone cable strap wire organizers.

SuChin Pak  24:01

Okay.

Kulap Vilaysack  24:01

Su. I’m gonna you said that, but do you use hair ties to tie up your cords?

SuChin Pak  24:07

You know, those like little metal? Sometimes you get them on?

Kulap Vilaysack  24:11

Twisty?

SuChin Pak  24:12

Twisties Yeah. Or like, I’m gonna have to take a picture of that.

Kulap Vilaysack  24:15

Well I think it’s better than nothing.

SuChin Pak  24:18

Yeah.

Kulap Vilaysack  24:19

You know, I just want everything in hand. And I wanted all my like tech stuff. It’s on my left side. Just all my Add to Cart stuff was so accessible. Oh, yeah. And it looks gorgeous. To some people. They’re like that won’t last and it’s like, Well, not if you’re you because you’re me. It looks it looks exactly the same as the first day that I did it.

SuChin Pak  24:43

He said Why you I have this.

Kulap Vilaysack  24:45

Yeah, like you’re worthy of organization. I am not worthy of this.

SuChin Pak  24:50

And I don’t like this line of thoughts.

Kulap Vilaysack  24:51

I don’t like you’re not worthy of this because I’ll buy all this or get gifted all this and then I’ll do it for a hot minute. And then Back to the bread ties. But Su, that’s okay though. Like, I feel like that’s all right.

SuChin Pak  25:05

But I love looking at it. I mean, I follow some things on Instagram where they organize. And it’s very soothing. It’s something there has to be studies about this. were organizing there some thing I do organize. I know everyone thinks that, that it’s a Garbage Pail. It looks bad, but it is organized in my brain like there is a method to the madness. There is something, innately I think calming and something psychological about having an organizational philosophy, however chaotic or sane, it may be.

Kulap Vilaysack  25:43

Yeah, as long as it works for you. And here’s what I want. I want it to always us, I want it to look good. I want to know where everything is. I don’t want to overbuy. Believe it or not, I don’t want to over buy and I don’t want to waste. So that’s like the real theories behind it. But of course, I said number one is theoretically pleasing. And if you look at my office drawer that has all of my supplies in it, the fact that like I can stack two levels of pens and colored pie on.

SuChin Pak  26:13

Hold on bunch of different stacking systems to get to this one because that’s what I find. I find that like, I have so many different container systems. And I think it’s the right one and then I’m like dammit, I didn’t realize after using it. I’m like I don’t like that. I have to unstack the top to get to a lid. You know what I mean?

Kulap Vilaysack  26:32

Yeah, well, again.

SuChin Pak  26:33

The ones you really love.

Kulap Vilaysack  26:35

I, to be fair, much like we like give our props to Angie hot and flashy that Deanna.

SuChin Pak  26:45

Just, just watching her.

Kulap Vilaysack  26:48

Yeah.

SuChin Pak  26:48

About uh, 10 minutes ago.

Kulap Vilaysack  26:50

I follow kami. Leray she has her own Amazon store Friday. I’m like cherry picking what I like to purchase and to put it on my Amazon store.

SuChin Pak  27:01

Correct.

Kulap Vilaysack  27:02

So like.

SuChin Pak  27:03

Okay, this is what works.

Kulap Vilaysack  27:05

Yeah, this is what works and this was the smart take 30 piece drawer organizer with non slip silicone pads.

SuChin Pak  27:13

Wow.

Kulap Vilaysack  27:13

We got that seven sizes of industrial organizer trays. So already knew she did the beginning stages. And then you know, much like Jenga. I just had a great time making this puzzle work and I use everything.

SuChin Pak  27:29

Are you like a Marie Kondo style where you put everything out first, so you can see okay, it looks like I’ve got I’ve got a lot of paper clips. Okay, not so much on the and then do you buy it versus what I do is I just guesstimate and then I get and I’m like dang it it doesn’t fit in there. Like do you actually like measure, measure.

Kulap Vilaysack  27:50

I just buy.

SuChin Pak  27:51

Okay.

Kulap Vilaysack  27:51

I just buy and make it work. I’ve never been in a situation where I also will move on to my bathroom situation. And I bought the kewtech 16 piece drawer organizer set with five size for the drawer organizers. I added that to stuff I already had.

SuChin Pak  28:11

Right.

Kulap Vilaysack  28:11

And maybe I had one piece left will you can always use plastic little organizer someplace else I was able to fill everything like and in someplace else got to be more organized.

SuChin Pak  28:23

Yeah.

Kulap Vilaysack  28:24

Which is the thing though it’s like once you start one place until it’s done, you’re gonna keep going. You’re gonna keep seeing things that could be you know.

SuChin Pak  28:31

Until you’re done.

Kulap Vilaysack  28:32

Until you’re done. This is all my makeup in my vanity Su and man is that satisfying just to look at all everybody is with their friends are all cordoned off separated.

SuChin Pak  28:44

As if you can see the look on Kulap’s space as she peruses her own photos.

Kulap Vilaysack  28:49

So great.

SuChin Pak  28:50

That’s gorgeous Su, that’s very, very.

SuChin Pak  28:50

Just still getting enjoyment out of it. This is a life that we want for you. It’s we want you to look back at your life, your own life. And look at it with such pride and ease and joy. That’s we want you auntie Ku style. We want you to move from the aunti Su dial and just inching your way towards that. That’s all any of us want for myself. And for you.

SuChin Pak  28:51

Giving generous.

Kulap Vilaysack  28:53

We have so much to share. And I’m going to move it along so that you can talk about some of your summer ATCs. The last thing I will bring up is the final picture to share Su which is my supply closet in the hallway. And that really is what started at all this organization. We get so much stuff thank you to our sponsors and people who send us things and so we get a lot of product and I want to use all the product and if I don’t use it, I want to give it away and I wanted to have it all in a place and I wanted to be organized. And I sure did that.

SuChin Pak  30:00

Dreams fulfilled.

Kulap Vilaysack  30:01

Dreams fulfilled. You know, there’s a label maker that was pulled up so that I could label sections of hair, body and face. What are we looking at? We’re looking at JVN stuff. We’re looking at Reveler stuff. We’re looking at Josh Rosebrook. We’re looking at Papa & Barkley. Look at the store that I have. I don’t need for anything,

SuChin Pak  30:24

A store wishes, a store wishes.

Kulap Vilaysack  30:27

And look at the always ultra thin advanced protection pads that are overnight, but I have to during my period I have to wear all day. And recently my gynecologist was like your periods are heavy. Do you want to do something about that? And at 43 years old, I was like, What do you mean? What do you mean there’s something to be done? No one has ever brought this up to me. She’s like, well, those pads are overnight. That’s the key word. I was like, Oh, okay.

SuChin Pak  30:56

Okay, okay.

Kulap Vilaysack  30:58

She did prescribe me some pills to cut down the bleeding. So we’ll try that next cycle guys. Oh, stick around. I’ll keep you updated.

SuChin Pak  31:04

Please do. Well, I love it. I love that this gives you joy. It gives us joy. We’re all excited to share these photos for you guys to be in on the toe tickling ecstatic photos these moments thank you so much. And I hope that you’ll share your you know, organizational closets we love when you share your stuff too.

SuChin Pak  31:47

What I did was I did a summer Add to Cart because that’s where my mind that’s what I’m using. That’s what I’m eating. The first thing I want to bring up. Full disclosure is a company that Mike and I have invested in. Now lest you think that Mike and I invest in companies. This is the only the first last and only time that that’s ever happened. Number one super good friends of ours. But number two, when he came to us with this, I was like Oh, of course I know why he’s coming to me because I love to snack. And it’s a new snack on the market called sea monsters. I think they sent you a box of them.

Kulap Vilaysack  33:14

Yes.

SuChin Pak  33:15

He he knows how much I love snacks and he also knows how many seaweed based snacks this family consumes. We eat so much seaweed in this house. My kids love it. I love it. So he came up with this amazing new snack called sea monsters. You know they’re for kids, but also for adults because now they launched a new flavor. It’s like the spicy Korean barbecue flavor. And it’s got seaweed, it’s got sorghum, all the ingredients are things that we recognize. I love to feed my kids snacks. When I know like if it’s gotta be a snack and it’s processed and it comes in a bag. Please let it be on the healthier side. So they’re launching with spicy Korean barbecue sweet chili cheese pizza and vegan ranch. I love them all Korean barbecue and cheese pizza. Those are my favorites, too. And the delicious about these they’re so crunchy. You know how like you eat a quote unquote healthy snack. And you want that satisfaction of texture dessert. So extra crunchy. I love it. Also to that there are sometimes snacks you’re eating and you’re eating and you eat so much of it. It doesn’t quite hit the spot. This I don’t know if it’s a sorghum. I don’t know if it’s a seaweed, whatever it is, it kind of is like a real satisfying snack.

Kulap Vilaysack  34:43

Su can we do a giveaway? Please?

SuChin Pak  34:46

I mean, let’s do it. Let’s do it. I’m gonna call up, call up  sea monster folks. And let’s do a giveaway. That’s a great idea.

Kulap Vilaysack  34:54

And you know, Su’s gonna talk about flavor. I’m going to talk about aesthetics. I really like the animated Creatures that they’ve created the the characters, it looks like they could it could be an animated show in the best.

SuChin Pak  35:07

Well, I know I mean Hint Hint, right? Like how cute would this be? No, that’s that’s the thing. I think John and his wife who started this company, they like work in advertising. So they understand story. They understand characters, they understand all this stuff. So and they have young kids. And so it is a world. You know, that’s what’s hopefully going to get kids excited about eating a healthy snack, is that it looks like a fun snack.

SuChin Pak  35:32

And so I think they did a really good job with the packaging. They’re gorgeous. Okay, so this is summer, ATC, taking so many showers in the summer. It’s hotter. You’re in the pool. You’re at the beach. This is something Mike found. And I have to tell you, I love the man. But a lot of things he finds I’m not using you know what I mean? And this is something he installed and I was very skeptical. But man, am I blown away with this. I think who love you’re going to be adding to cart. It’s Joeyskinco.com And what it is, is a filtered showerhead. Now I’ve had filtered shower heads in the past, and they are ugly. This thing is gorgeous. And it comes in many colorways we have the, I think we have the nickel, but it comes in really fun colors like you know an avocado green and you know has like a desert pink.

Kulap Vilaysack  35:32

Yeah.

Kulap Vilaysack  36:30

Or a jet black, which is right.

SuChin Pak  36:33

Matte Black. It’s a filtered showerhead that removes chlorine heavy metals and other contaminants to improve your skin and hair. Now the reason why we bought this is Santa Barbara has crazy hard water. It’s so noticeable. It’s almost like after you take a shower, your hair feels like it’s been slimed. Like it’s a slimy fellow. Even though we have a water softener. And for Mike who’s got lovely hair but very thin hair. Poor guy has had sad Finn ever since we moved here, you know just aren’t. And at first we thought oh God, is it time that he’s getting little patches of hair loss? I know that for a man that’s kryptonite. And he’s a Leo so his main.

Kulap Vilaysack  37:21

Oh no.

SuChin Pak  37:23

His main flow with free and flow with flow with strong. So he had a hairdresser who was like, Okay, try, he was washing his hair with dish soap. Because logically think about it. It removes a lot of things, you know from dishes, it can also remove it from your scalp. I mean crying everything, his hair was so sad. And somehow he stumbled on this. And now we’ve got to show Lee showerhead and every shower and his hair is just gorgeous. It’s standing up, it’s doing what it’s supposed to do. He’s not losing his hair. He’s so happy. It’s not a very expensive buy in so like even if you’re I think this is great if you have a rental, you know what I mean? And you’re like, I’m not going to rip out you know, the water system. You just have to screw this on and off.

Kulap Vilaysack  38:14

Well to me I’m hearing that it’s a game changer.

SuChin Pak  38:17

It is a game changer. When you have contaminants minerals, it doesn’t have to be contaminants because our house is like super filtered. She’s all the minerals, like your skin gets so dry. Yeah, I’m not a body lotion person. But I’ve been like mango butter. I mean everything since I’ve moved here and it’s because of the water and now kind of has resolved itself.

Kulap Vilaysack  38:37

That’s amazing.

SuChin Pak  38:40

Now, yo u and I got gifted from Josh Rosebrook A little box of just some of the best sellers of his skincare. And shout out to our friend Dennis Quan for hooking that up because they’re friends. And the thing is, is I’ve bought Josh rosebrook products before I’ve been introduced to them via luncheon she’s got a very curated list of skincare products Josh rosebrook is one of the very few lines that she carries and so you know it’s tried and true. And so I was so excited to try these products that I haven’t tried some I haven’t some I haven’t so I stepped right into the new stuff and I’m going piece by piece because let me tell you guys this stuff you don’t you’re, you’re not just like one and done. This is stuff that you’re going to use to the very last drop now. I don’t know have you opened this box?

Kulap Vilaysack  39:30

I’ve opened this box I’ve get to dig out I’m just trying to figure out some.

SuChin Pak  39:34

I know I know. I know it’s because we are very methodical we’re very methodical we use everything I give everything a shot, but this Josh was I couldn’t wait.

Kulap Vilaysack  39:44

Wow.

SuChin Pak  39:45

There’s a lot of fantastic stuff I’m trying out three products that I absolutely love the essential balm cleanse, he’s got a retinol oil and then he’s got this beautiful moisturizer that is the texture of souffle, butter. all amazing. And those three I’m using religiously, I’m almost out of all of it. But this essential balm cleanse now I bring this up two things. Number one, it’s summertime SPF, I mean, I’m using so much sunscreen, that this cleansing process, which I wasn’t really that focused on before is now like the most important step to my skincare routine. And I listened to an episode with Joanna Vargas who is this very renowned facialist on breaking beauty one of our favorite podcasts, and she was saying, You need to be cleansing your skin you need to be working that in for like two minutes.

Kulap Vilaysack  40:43

Oh, I’m not doing that. Su okay.

SuChin Pak  40:45

I was like, wait, what, two minutes?

SuChin Pak  40:48

Two minutes.

SuChin Pak  40:49

She was like, make it you know, I don’t know, do a facial massage, do your whatever. And I was like two, do you know how long two minutes is?

Kulap Vilaysack  40:57

That’s long.

SuChin Pak  40:58

And so I was like, that seems really extreme. But it made sense. Listen, if you’re not gonna do two minutes, even like a minute, like I’m like just bom bom bom. Then I do my second step and I’m out. And then I’m like, let’s get to the good stuff, the serums and she’s like, serums you might as well just throw that in the trash if your skin isn’t clean. And I was like, dammit. Then we got this in the mail. Okay, this is the texture. I’m going to squeeze it into my hand. It’s the texture of honey. It’s this green. Oh my god, it smells so good. I am actually having sensory overload right now. It smells so good. And the texture is so intense and so rich. That culottes. I’ve never done I actually had to taste it. Have you smelled something so good on your skin that you just had to just touch the tip of your tongue to it. And I did that. I did that because I was like, what does this taste like? I was so overwhelmed. This shit is so fucking butter. It’s thick. It’s like it’s almost like a honey mask. And now I understand how you could do this for two minutes. Because this is almost like a mask. And it’s your first cleanse. You guys listen, he’s not sponsored. We he just gave us some stuff that we may or may not talk about. But everything in this line. Every single ingredient is an ingredient. You know what I mean? Like there’s no.

Kulap Vilaysack  42:22

Yeah, Yeah, I see what you’re saying.

SuChin Pak  42:24

Every single thing and it’s most of it’s organic. I mean, it’s just quality stuff. So I just have to recommend, you know if you’re gonna get into one thing over the summer, it’s cleansing your skin.

Kulap Vilaysack  42:37

Hatha Hatha.

SuChin Pak  42:41

Alright, that’s it. I mean, you know, wish me luck. I’m about to head out on my annual free to be me.

Kulap Vilaysack  42:50

I want you to post I know you’re not going to.

SuChin Pak  42:52

I’m not going to post because.

Kulap Vilaysack  42:54

Can you ask Annie to take some pics?

SuChin Pak  42:57

Eventually they make it on to Add To Cart, Instagram and all that stuff. I just don’t like to do it in the moment because I want to be in the moment. And now I get it more annoying. And I love you all and I consume it all of my friends are on lovely vacations, when you’re sitting at home and everybody is embarrassed. Except for you. So anyway, but but I will take pictures in my mind I you know, hold me to it. I will do like a list like I did with Mexico City on the things I discover. But again the things I go into in Paris is it’s a certain flavor. And I don’t know if anybody we.

Kulap Vilaysack  43:40

No, don’t worry about that.

SuChin Pak  43:42

It’s fermented crab soup you know it’s it’s not.

Kulap Vilaysack  43:45

They might, they might, this look everything you do is not going to be in the Paris travel guys and I think that is your greatest strength.

SuChin Pak  43:56

Let me tell you when I check into a hotel, and I see the state of things the first thing that pops into my head is a way to like tell Ku, it’s gotten to that point where Annie goes good content right good content as we’re unpacking towels that we had to buy at the Paris target because this one doesn’t come with towels you know. Some hotels don’t and they’re not hotel.

Kulap Vilaysack  44:26

That’s so different I don’t know those hotels Su, I don’t see and see on Jonas whoo Okay, speaking of content, you can check out everything that we talked about our Add to Cart pod, hit our Lincoln bio for actual links.
