Hey Carters, we hope you’re taking care during this stressful election week. We thought we’d revisit one of our favorite episodes in the meantime. We hope it brings you joy and a chiller dill.

Rob Huebel has some open carts he needs the aunties help to close. He tells Ku and Su why he spent almost $200 on a jump rope. But he’s torn on how much is too much to spend on his (and his wife’s) underwear. Plus, the three compare notes on men’s vs. women’s fashion marketing, and redesign some boxers for maximum dill cooling.

SuChin Pak, Rob Huebel, Kulap Vilaysack

Kulap Vilaysack  00:01

Carters, welcome back to Add To Cart, I’m your fave auntie Kulap Vilaysack.

SuChin Pak  02:04

I’m your second less favorite auntie, SuChin Pak, it’s true.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:08

That’s not what the copy says, Su.

SuChin Pak  02:10

But it’s what my heart says.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:13

Su let me tell you a little bit about today’s guest.

SuChin Pak  02:16

I’m all ears. I’m so excited. The energy, the energy is palpable.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:21

I mean, he’s a writer, an actor, a union member, a good friend, a podcaster, a twitcher. You’ve seen him on every sitcom, The Office 30 rock Modern Family Children’s Hospital. He’s Dr Owen Maestro there, and also Netflix is medical police tsuchin You and he have MTV family connects here because he is a member of human giants. I mean, there’s so many movies every screen. Rob Huebel has been on.

Kulap Vilaysack  02:49

Every screen.

Rob Huebel  02:50

Wow.

SuChin Pak  02:51

Including Twitch. I didn’t see that one coming, Rob.

Rob Huebel  02:54

You didn’t see that coming because of my demographic, because I’m a middle aged man, that’s really Paul shears genius move. Paul knows where the kids are gonna be, and so we go to

Kulap Vilaysack  03:07

He’s got a real bloodhound nose for that.

SuChin Pak  03:09

I mean, for everything. He’s just a renaissance man. We’ve had so many guests who’ve had lighting done by Paul Scherer. Now your Twitch stream is done by Paul Scherer. I mean, what doesn’t he do?

Rob Huebel  03:24

Paul has a great setup also on his This is a audio recording, so you can’t tell, but when you Twitch with Paul, like, he looks amazing. He’s got like, soft focus in the background and like, it’s like he’s got like, some kind of special camera. And then people look at me and I look like an idiot, like I’m in my garage. I have this, you know, Home Depot metal thing behind me, and it’s just the contrast between us is terrible, but I don’t have to worry about that on this podcast. We don’t even have to talk about him, because I don’t, you know, I don’t want to feel bad about myself, you know.

Kulap Vilaysack  04:01

Oh yeah, but Rob, I just gotta say, it’s such a pleasure to reveal ourselves and be be gray together, to grow gray together.

Rob Huebel  04:12

Kulap, we handled the pandemic better than a lot of people. We saw that this is an opportunity for us to embrace our gray hair for people again. Kulap, you’re not a great podcaster. I can tell because you don’t realize this is a audio format. People can’t see our gray hair. They can hear it, I guess, but.

Kulap Vilaysack  04:32

They definitely can hear it in our voice.

Rob Huebel  04:36

Yes, I did go gray over the pandemic. It was a very stressful time, but now everything’s back to normal, and, oh, wait no, there is a total strike in Hollywood, and no one’s working, and everyone’s whipping off their savings, except for you guys. You guys make that sweet podcast money.

SuChin Pak  04:52

So much so sweet

Rob Huebel  04:56

Set for life.

SuChin Pak  04:58

That’s why my hair is not gray.

Rob Huebel  05:00

I know.

SuChin Pak  05:00

I have so much coloring in it, just so much money going into the dye.

SuChin Pak  05:06

Rob, we like to ask all our guests what type of shopper they are. How do you add to cart? Are you steady? Do you do a lot of research? I go willy nilly.

Rob Huebel  05:17

Great question. Thank you for asking. I think long and hard before I drop my sweet dollars on the internet. I sent you guys something a few weeks ago, thinking that, well, I’m sure I’ll buy this before the show, and I just bought it yesterday, so I thought about it for like, three weeks, and I’m really embarrassed about it.

SuChin Pak  05:39

Don’t be embarrassed. We call those open carts, right? They’re just carts that are open and ready when you’re ready.

Rob Huebel  05:46

Can I ask you a question? Because I don’t know that you guys would know this, but I heard that when you go to a website for shopping and you put a bunch of stuff in your cart and then you leave it open, it really messes up that company, because they think in their inventory that it’s out the door.

SuChin Pak  06:05

Well, that’s a them problem.

Kulap Vilaysack  06:06

Yeah.

Rob Huebel  06:06

It is a them problem for sure.

Kulap Vilaysack  06:08

Yeah.

SuChin Pak  06:09

I’ve also sometimes noticed, if you have something in a cart and you don’t because I’m like, you Rob, I pour over things, I think about it, and often I don’t buy it, but it’s still open. But sometimes i’ll leave it in the cart and then, like, a few hours later, or the next morning, I’ll get a marketing email that says, hey, you left something in the cart. Would a 15% discount code help you complete that purchase? And that usually gets me or the finish line. Has that ever happened to you guys? Because that happens to me all the time.

Rob Huebel  06:40

That’s smart.

Kulap Vilaysack  06:41

That’s really so smart, it’s more like my technology is like scraped, and they’re just hounding me from every because you don’t wait, you don’t wait, that’s interesting.

Rob Huebel  06:52

I had the opposite. I bought this item, which we will talk about soon, and as soon as I bought it, they said, hey, it looks like you forgot to add this thing to your purchase. How about 20% and I was like, Oh, now you’re trying to rope me back in, you know? Yeah, but, um, also full disclosure. I’m sure a lot of people say this, but I’ve been known to make some late night drunk or stony purchases also, like off Instagram or something like that. You know? You’re like.

Kulap Vilaysack  07:20

Well, so what is it more about, like, the gear aspect of it? Is it the hidden pocket?

Rob Huebel  07:25

I think it’s the gear. I think it’s the gear aspect. Is that a common thing that you guys have found talking to men, like, I feel like that’s a big thing that like, Oh, this is cool gear. It’s not late, it’s not me being vain. This is like, I’m a cool dude that can also go camping and poop in the woods, you know?

Kulap Vilaysack  07:42

Yeah. So Jason Mantzoukas, is that what you.

Rob Huebel  07:44

Yeah, I’m Jason Manzoukis.

SuChin Pak  07:46

He’s going poop in the woods.

Rob Huebel  07:48

I’m not even gonna touch massively.

SuChin Pak  07:50

I’m not gonna touch that because that shatters everything he has told me about himself, and I don’t.

Rob Huebel  07:58

At his home, he will not flush the toilet. He goes in his backyard and.

Kulap Vilaysack  08:03

In his backyard. It’s his poop trough.

Rob Huebel  08:12

Calls it his poop trough. Yeah, it’s disgusting.

Kulap Vilaysack  08:15

But he vigorously washes his hands after.

Rob Huebel  08:18

For hours, hours washing his hands.

SuChin Pak  08:21

I mean, that makes up for it. It’s the yin and the yang with that guy, you know, also, because I think you’re right, like the way that men’s, let’s just say fashion, and women’s fashion, you know, is marketed also. It’s not only about the gear, but I noticed sometimes when I stumble upon a quote, unquote, male marketed ad, it’ll be like, you don’t have to iron it, you don’t have to tuck it like.

Kulap Vilaysack  08:48

I’m like, wait.

SuChin Pak  08:50

This whole company, it’s doing $700 million in sales this year alone. Is just about not tucking in a shirt. I’m sure there have to do more than.

Rob Huebel  09:01

Don’t even get me started on untuck it, that motherfucker, are we allowed to swear on the show? Yes, so much money off of that dumb idea, which is basically just like, you know, guys have bellies because we’re lazy, but it’s just like, untuck it, bro. Untuck it. But, but, yeah, you’re right, SuChin, I think that anything that’s like easy or skipping a step or low maintenance is like.

SuChin Pak  09:27

You only have to market it, yeah, for once every four months.

Rob Huebel  09:32

Inside out. You can flip it inside out, you can you don’t have to watch it. You can just wring it out. It wicks away moisture. It’s got a hidden pocket that you just stuff it back into. You never have to iron it, yeah, that sort of thing.

SuChin Pak  09:46

You know what? Wait, this hidden pocket thing is this a guy thing? Because, okay, right now, currently I am wearing men’s Lululemon joggers that I just got, and I’m testing it out, like I still have the tag on it. Like. I’m like.

Kulap Vilaysack  10:01

Rob full disclosure, Lululemon is a sponsor.

SuChin Pak  10:04

Okay, so, so I have all this, so I’ve noticed that, you know, a lot of their stuff is pretty tight, especially for the women. And I like my clothes a little looser. I thought I would let me try a men’s track pant, which fits perfectly. I put my hand in the pocket this morning. Cool up. Yeah, there’s a hidden pocket in each of the pockets.

Kulap Vilaysack  10:25

And I it’s double pocketed.

SuChin Pak  10:26

What is this hidden pocket for? Is it? It’s for tiny it’s, what is it for? And but it’s deep. I can’t even reach the bottom. It’s my index finger.

Rob Huebel  10:37

It’s for a pocket knife. You’re it’s, again, it’s for more gear. You stash gear in there. It’s for knives or marbles or chapstick.

Kulap Vilaysack  10:49

What would what would Ethan Hunt need for mission? Impossible, right?

Rob Huebel  10:53

Yeah.

SuChin Pak  10:54

But I was such a weird place to put a secret pocket, and it’s such a weird shape, it can just fit my finger in it, and that’s it. But Brian, our editor, said, coins. Coins are we using? Look screwdriver.

Rob Huebel  11:09

Guys are the only ones still using coins or coins, are now being marketed to guys. It’s like, Hey guys, are you sick and tired of using making things easy, your credit card, you need to carry more change, bro, I’m talking about dimes, nickels, quarters, pennies, yeah.

Kulap Vilaysack  11:31

That’s big wallet chain trying to get their money, you know, like.

SuChin Pak  11:34

I get it. Yeah, I get it. This is but you know what? I like it.

Rob Huebel  11:38

My wife buys me so much Lululemon stuff, which is so it’s like, at some point in our marriage, it just became like, oh well, you’re clearly not buying clothes for yourself anymore, so I’ll just buy clothes for you. Or it was like, you don’t know how to dress for me. I’m going to dress you for it’s done […]

SuChin Pak  12:05

That has been done to me too, that’s for sure be.

Rob Huebel  12:08

Yeah, so I have just resigned myself to that, but it’s been delightful, like my wife buys me those sweet pants, and they fit great and look great. And anyway, I feel now, I feel like I should go to work for Lululemon.

Kulap Vilaysack  12:23

Well, maybe wearing Lululemon while you do use this crossrope Jump ropes. What is this?

SuChin Pak  12:30

Let’s click on the link here from Rob.

Rob Huebel  12:33

This is the product I wanted to talk about. I was so ashamed, guys, because it’s the most expensive jump rope. It’s let me ask you this, how much money would you pay for a fucking jump rope? I think about a jump rope. You’re a kid on the playground. It’s made out of macaroni, you know, strung together. How much would you pay for a jump rope? Now, multiply that times a million, and I just bought one. I just bought one after thinking about it for a month. Well, the problem is they’re great jump ropes. It’s this weighted jump rope called crossrope, and they have all these different weights. So you can get a real skinny one, or you can get like, half a pound, or a pound or two pounds, I think, up to like, five pounds.

Kulap Vilaysack  13:24

Wait, what weighs the hand?

Rob Huebel  13:26

No, the rope. The rope itself is like a wire. It’s like a thick cable, and then there’s like a plastic coating over the wire, so you don’t get like, hit in the head or anything. But anyway, I bought one, like, 10 years ago, when the company first started, and then I use it for a while, and then really liked it, and then they completely redesigned it. So now it’s like, this is so nerdy, but.

Kulap Vilaysack  13:51

I mean, there’s an app, there’s Bluetooth. What is it? What’s the redesign?

Rob Huebel  13:55

Well, it’s hard to explain, but when I bought one, like 10 years ago, when you mess up jump roping, and I mess up a lot, where it connects to the handle, because, okay, here’s the thing, the ropes are interchangeable with the handle, so it just pulls apart, and it snaps apart at the handles. And so you can change the weight of the ropes. And so the long story short is it’s way easier to jump rope with a weighted jump rope, because it gets going around you, and it has its own momentum. And so you can just keep going and going and going, and you actually get, like, a great, crazy workout. So when I bought one, like, 10 years ago, the handles were, like, a little bit weird and had this like chain thing attached to it that the rope latched onto. So when you would mess up, it would pop you on the knuckles. And, like, I would always like, have to wear these boxing gloves to jump rope because I would get popped on the knuckles anyway. Now they’ve redesigned it, and they figured it out. So I was like, should I buy another one of these things? And then it was like a sign from God, I was at the gym. No big deal. I can afford it. And they happened to be one of these jump ropes, like laying around the, like, you know, the yoga studio or whatever at the gym. And sometimes I just go in the yoga part at the gym and work out in there by myself, and there was one of these jump ropes, and I so I started doing it again, and I was like, I’m hooked. Protested it. I gotta get one of these, yeah. So I just, I just dropped, guess how much money I just paid yesterday for two fucking jump ropes. Go ahead. You can drop it. $145 Shut up, you shut up, you shut up. No, you shut up.

Kulap Vilaysack  15:38

The handles alone are $100.

Rob Huebel  15:41

Well, the handles, I know guys, but when you see this body, I You can’t because we’re on a podcast. You weren’t a podcast. But underneath this ratty, old t shirt that I’m wearing in my garage, I’m ripped.

SuChin Pak  15:59

I have a question?

Rob Huebel  16:01

Yes, SuChin go.

SuChin Pak  16:02

You got me interested. Everything you said, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, underwater, until you said that, it helps you jump rope better, right?

Rob Huebel  16:12

Yes, you jump rope way better because it builds its own little momentum.

SuChin Pak  16:17

So then, what is the purpose of a heavier rope? Does it give you a better workout, or is it because it gives you better jumps?

Rob Huebel  16:25

Well, to be clear, I don’t work for the company, so I don’t know.

Kulap Vilaysack  16:29

You work for Lululemon.

SuChin Pak  16:33

yeah. So what weight are you using?

Rob Huebel  16:35

Well, I ordered a half pound rope and a one pound rope because I think that’s the one that I randomly used at the gym before some mother ever stole it. And so that’s why I had to buy a new one. But, um, so, yeah, I think it’s, I think I used a one pound rope at the gym, but it’s basically a more work for your body and you, I mean, you do get, like, a really great workout.

Kulap Vilaysack  16:58

It’s a boxer’s workout, like, it’s, I hate doing it. I’ve purchased a $40 jump rope I don’t use. It’s gorgeous. Looks gorgeous.

Rob Huebel  17:08

I wish you told me. I know where you live. I could have driven by there.

Kulap Vilaysack  17:11

Now it looks like, though, there’s some sort of, like, you know, functionality that you wait, is it attached to an app and then it.

Rob Huebel  17:19

Yeah, again, I don’t. I’m not a marketing rep for the company. I believe they have some sort of app that sounded to me like a way to probably justify in your mind what you’re doing. Like, I’m not going to download the app and look on the app to see how many times I jump roped, you know, but I think that’s what it is. I think, like, you can count, yes exactly. So next time you guys see me, I will not have a shirt on because these ABS got to breathe, baby.

Kulap Vilaysack  17:54

Hey, look, you’re joking. But I really want to go on the record say this out loud, I don’t care how nice your body is if you’re running around the city, put on a shirt.

Rob Huebel  18:03

No, I won’t.

Kulap Vilaysack  18:05

I don’t want to see your nipples Rob.

Rob Huebel  18:07

Kulap, I don’t strike. I’m an actor right now, and I’m on strike, and it’s very important, as a writer and an actor on strike to take my shirt off. I just got makes sense. It’s part of the way I keep pressure on these studios. You know, I’m just telling you this crossrope, it’s your loss, because you could probably eat off of these abs, I’ll be honest. Like, let’s edit that part out. Let’s we’ll edit that out.

Kulap Vilaysack  18:35

What are you serving? What are we eating? Like, what’s the food? I want to hear the menu, and then let me consider.

Rob Huebel  18:42

It’s a Quiznos.

Kulap Vilaysack  18:49

Hot Body, hot damn.

Rob Huebel  18:51

You don’t want, you do not want to eat Quiznos off my abs. Is that what you’re telling me?

Kulap Vilaysack  18:57

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying.

Rob Huebel  18:59

Well, then I misjudged this podcast.

SuChin Pak  19:06

Let’s talk about 102 pieces princess castle magnetic tiles.

Rob Huebel  23:08

Yeah, let’s talk about 102 pieces of magnetic tiles. This is for my daughter who has gotten way into magnetic tiles. You’re, I don’t know how old your kids are, SuChin, but Kulap. Your daughter will love magnetic tiles, it is.

SuChin Pak  23:25

And by the way, they are not cheap. Rob on to those to pass.

Rob Huebel  23:29

No big deal. I can afford them. It’s no big deal. Even though I’m on strike, I can afford them. I’m not gonna try to flip I used to flip tiles. I would buy them, you know, and then go out on the street and sell them for more. But I got out of that hustle.

Kulap Vilaysack  23:41

Yeah, the back of your car. Yeah, you do that. I mean, it was problem on the picket line, right? People were like, it was probably, it

Rob Huebel  23:47

was big problem. People said, Why are you flipping your kids toys out here on the picket line? You know, we’re trying to negotiate a fair deal for the writers. Get out of here. The magnetic tiles are super fun, and we are. Listen, we’re a family that believes in overdoing it. We already had a big box of them, of like, whatever, 100 or 150 and I was messing around one night and I saw, wait a second, there’s options for these babies. You can get little stairs, you can get little windows. You can get all sorts of little, you know, add ons for the magnetic tiles to make, you know, not just blocks and big square houses, but you can make, like, castles that shimmer and shine.

Kulap Vilaysack  24:31

Right now, Rob.

Rob Huebel  24:32

Yeah, it was a listen, a part of being a parent is making your kid think that, like, you know, you’re the best parent in the world. And so sometimes when mommy leaves, I go, you know, I’ll just ask her, I’ll say, Who do you like better? If you had to pick between me or mom? Yeah, very casually. That’s casually casual. No, we’ll be, we’ll be sitting around playing with the magnetic tiles, the new princess ones that are shimmery and shiny with stairs. And windows, and I’ll say, Who, who do you like better? I’m just curious, who you like better? Yeah, she’ll say, you know, Mommy. And I’ll be like, Okay, well, let’s return these. Let’s send these back. But, yeah, that was a good purchase. The magnetic tiles will occupy your child for hours.

Kulap Vilaysack  25:16

My kids are nine and 11, so, yes, they are on the older side. But if it gets just you turn off the screens and you’re really clear on those boundaries, and you pull out that tub, two hours later, there’s still magnetic tiling to this day. And I have to say, Rob, I don’t know if you’ve gone the generic magnetic tiles route.

Rob Huebel  25:41

I would never.

Kulap Vilaysack  25:42

Don’t it’s, I love a knockoff. I love a generic. I love a dupe. You cannot dupe the real magnetic tile, really, because they don’t have as many magnets. And so.

Rob Huebel  25:56

Great point. So, you know your magnetic tiles?

SuChin Pak  25:59

Oh yeah, you’ll build it, and then it’ll be a wobbly foundation. Your kids are crying, it’ll collapse. It’s a tantrum. It’s not worth it.

Rob Huebel  26:09

I take it back. I don’t think your kids are too old for magnetic tiles. I think it’s probably a great thing for kids. Your kids age. It sounds like the but you’re right. If you buy knock off ones, yeah, they’re too flimsy. They don’t have the right number because they have little magnets around the little squares, and they could easily save money by not putting enough magnets in there. And then the whole thing just falls apart. And then your kids get frustrated, and they get upset, and then they say, you know, I was going to be an architect, but now I’m going to be an actor. And you’re like, you idiot, you’re not going to be an actor. You’re going to go further. You’re going to do something with your life.

Kulap Vilaysack  26:45

No.

SuChin Pak  26:46

No we’ve been replaced by robots. They can’t replace architects.

Kulap Vilaysack  26:55

Let’s know about these. The drop temp, cooling cotton boxer brief.

SuChin Pak  27:03

Now, again, we just talked about earlier, about the way that clothes are marketed to men. Temperature is a really big, huge factor, whereas temperature never enters, never enters the women’s fashion industry, unless you’re talking about specifically workout clothes. But let’s talk about this cooling cotton.

Rob Huebel  27:28

Okay, this is something that I haven’t bought yet because I wanted to get your guys opinion on this. Is this too much money to spend for underwear? $32 a pair. I don’t know what women’s underwear costs.

SuChin Pak  27:40

The modeling, modeling that they used on on this.

Rob Huebel  27:47

The guy in the picture, you mean?

SuChin Pak  27:49

Well, even before the picture enters the frame, it’s just a front and a back.

Rob Huebel  27:54

Oh yeah.

Kulap Vilaysack  27:56

They really make sure to fill that out.

Rob Huebel  27:59

They really fill it out for you in that pouch so there’s nothing left to your imagination. But yeah, you’re right. Suchin that temperature is the driving factor in men’s underwear. They basically say you don’t want sweaty balls, bro. This is what they’re telling you. That’s all they’re telling you.

Kulap Vilaysack  28:20

Is known for what they’ve trademarked is the ballpark pouch at the last thing, yeah, that’s trademarked. They let you know. They showed they pull it apart, and they say your balls go in here, in case you weren’t sure. Oh, balls going.

Rob Huebel  28:34

Who does that?

SuChin Pak  28:35

This is, that is 32 bucks. Yeah, your balls go in a refrigerated sack of sorts, Rob. It also says, when you drop down and you want product info, it says, made for get ready, chilling your dill every day. Literally, by the way, it says, okay, chilling your dill every day.

Rob Huebel  28:59

Yeah, I feel like I’m being held responsible for some of the marketing of this product. I don’t work for the sex. What’s the name of this company? I haven’t bought these yet. I was going to buy them, but they have sex, underwear. Essay. XX, okay, so I obviously now I’m just realizing that it’s also a play on words. I did not even think about this, I promise you, sa xx sax underwear. I did not. It did not register with me until right now, that this was so about ball sacks. I promise that we know, I promise you that I sent this to you guys because I was gonna buy these underwear. And now I’m just looking at it, I realize this is about, it’s named after your ball sack, right?

Kulap Vilaysack  29:42

Okay, now that you know this, yes, how are you feeling?

Rob Huebel  29:46

I’m gonna buy more. I’m going to buy more. I’m gonna be an investor.

Kulap Vilaysack  29:52

Rob, have you ever called your dick a pickle or a dill pickle?

Rob Huebel  29:56

I Yes, those are the terms that I use the term chill the dill. I sold that.

Kulap Vilaysack  30:04

Context to give me a sentence.

Rob Huebel  30:06

Well, like, okay, like a real life scenario. I was recently at the doctor, and the doctor was about to give me a physical exam, and, you know, was about to look at my situation down there, and I said, Yo, man, chill the dill. And the doctor was like, what? And I said, chill the dill.

Kulap Vilaysack  30:26

And that was a request.

Rob Huebel  30:28

I was immediately thrown out of the doctor’s office. Oh, God, I don’t, I don’t often use those terms to describe my own anatomy. Well, okay, let me ask you guys a question. It sounds like this company has some sort of new technology for chilling down there, and I don’t know exactly what it is. Let me look at this is it?

Kulap Vilaysack  30:50

It’s just dry, it’s moisture wicking.

SuChin Pak  30:53

But is there actually a pocket for it?

Rob Huebel  30:56

I think there’s, like a pouch.

Kulap Vilaysack  30:57

Yeah, it’s the ballpark pouch trademarked, and it’s the ballpark. Poach cooling cotton is made with buttery, soft cotton modal blend. And this pair keeps you cool and comfy even when the heat.

Rob Huebel  31:11

Just say it’s slow or cool if you don’t have to rush past here we go.

Kulap Vilaysack  31:17

Chilling your dill every day, literally quick, dry and moisture wicking for your sweaty ass. Balls drop temp, cooling. Cotton is a go to everyday staple.

Rob Huebel  31:34

You just caused a lot of car accidents, Kulap. Definitely someone listening to this, some guy was like, whoa. I’ve never really heard Kulap, sounds so sexy. Whoa cliff.

Kulap Vilaysack  31:45

As a man well as a person that has balls. Do you? Do you want it in a pouch like that?

Rob Huebel  31:53

To be honest, I haven’t put my balls in a pouch. But thank you for asking. Um, I think that a lot of men’s underwear sort of has, like, a little area, I shouldn’t say little, a large area that’s sort of, you know, built to, kind of, like, shove everything in there. And that seems fine, but this seems like it’s, I mean, that’s why we’re talking about it. Do we want this? Do I need this? I don’t know.

Kulap Vilaysack  32:19

I think you should try it.

Rob Huebel  32:20

Yeah, $32 is that? Is that too much money to pay for underwear?

Kulap Vilaysack  32:23

Well, I know my good friend Rob has spent almost $200 on jumping on a jump, and now when you’re jump roping them balls be a Stephen.

SuChin Pak  32:34

I don’t see anything wrong with this ball pouch technology. I think it’s worth a shot.

Rob Huebel  32:39

I sort of feel like there’s even room for more technology in this direction, where, if you had some sort of little wiring, some sort of little, like coolant, or, like a little, you know, like, you know what I mean, like.

Kulap Vilaysack  32:51

If there’s, like, a big mascot, like a mascot, they’re so furry, they have, like, cooling situations.

Rob Huebel  32:58

Like a little fan, or a little some sort of gel. That’s when the air hits the gel, it like, cools it. I mean, I’m just pitching ideas here of ways to cool our balls off, and I feel like just having it be a pouch that the wind hits. Why isn’t there a little separate attachment that you can take on and off? You put it in the freezer overnight, and then in the morning, you plank it on there, you button it on there, and then you’re good to go for most of the day, obviously, with melt […]

Kulap Vilaysack  33:29

Squashing around in your melted like

SuChin Pak  33:32

Guy, guys don’t like the cold situation. Super cold down there. That’s what I was told.

Rob Huebel  33:39

I think it depends on the month. I think, you know, global warming, extreme temperatures.

Kulap Vilaysack  33:48

The world we live in.

Rob Huebel  33:49

So I’m just thinking about the world that, yeah, the world is changing fast. So okay, maybe I’ll buy these, because you guys seem curious about.

Kulap Vilaysack  33:58

I think just, let’s try it, and then, like, we’re gonna need follow up. Yeah, we need a follow up. This is your road testing at your boots on the ground, your balls in a in a pouch. You know, let’s, as the saying goes.

Rob Huebel  34:10

It would be cool too, if there was some sort of, like, at the headquarters for this sax company, they could, like, control the pouch. You know, if there’s, like, engineers that are like, oh, we need to, like, cool off the pouch, push the button. Dave, be you know, like, if every pair of underwear had, like, an engineer quarters.

Kulap Vilaysack  34:31

Yeah, basically of ball concierge.

Rob Huebel  34:36

yeah. And there’s like, a little, tiny, little camera in there, and then go, Oh, we got a problem over here. Steve, yeah, I don’t know what that noise is or how expensive that would be to.

Kulap Vilaysack  34:48

Pretty expensive.

SuChin Pak  34:48

Not expensive. No, there’s a strike happening. There’s a whole, you know, market of people just looking to be yeah.

Rob Huebel  34:57

Yeah, an alarm goes off when. Pouch gets to a certain temperature, an alarm goes off back at headquarters, Steve and Dave, yes, this has become Shark Tank me pitching products to you guys about Meg’s balls.

Kulap Vilaysack  35:16

Now, before we move on, I went to the home page of saxxunderwear.com, saxx is spelled S, A, X, X, and like the first thing that’s on the home page says, Once upon a time, two breezy balls slept cozily ever after the end.

SuChin Pak  35:34

Wow, they’re really telling a story, Rob, don’t they’re telling a story that this is what the kids want. They want BEDTIME STORY ABOUT THE BALLS.

Rob Huebel  35:45

I’m gonna guess that most of your listeners are female, and they are sick of this topic by now. I’m gonna, I’m going out on a wire here.

SuChin Pak  35:56

You’re right on A, but wrong on B, right.

Rob Huebel  35:59

I think they still want to hear about this. Okay. I mean, look, because I was gonna, here’s what I was gonna go into, I was just gonna say that this type of marketing, there’s a lot of this sort of thing about, like shaving your balls and like trimming your which I do think, you know, that’s a whole other podcast that I should start called, shaving your balls, I guess.

Kulap Vilaysack  36:20

But started here we want.

SuChin Pak  36:23

Sponsored by man skate, yeah.

Rob Huebel  36:25

Spin off. But that’s a, like, a thing that’s just in your face now all the time is, like, what’s wrong with you? Why aren’t you shaving your balls right now? Like, that’s sort of the marketing for for men. It seems like that’s a big deal.

Kulap Vilaysack  36:39

Well, I don’t know. Here, do you want the space to tell us why you’re not? Do you?

Rob Huebel  36:43

Well, you don’t have to all the time. I mean, you do it and then you set it and forget it. You know what? I mean, you like, you trim it and then you you win it. Or, I don’t know what the catchphrase is, but.

Kulap Vilaysack  36:53

Yeah, well, that’s it.

Rob Huebel  36:55

You trim it and you win it. Trim it to win it. But, you know, yeah, you do that.

SuChin Pak  37:01

Yeah, you’re not like, right? We get it. I like that. You’re a measured person. That comes area of your life. Thank you. No other area but just that one I am so interested in the next thing,

Rob Huebel  37:14

A lot of the listeners are not going to like me after all, the ball talk. Oh, disagree. I just get worried. I want people to like me, all.

Kulap Vilaysack  37:24

Right well, let’s talk about this, the lively, no wire strapless bar. What bra bar you have? A somebody wrote bar. Somebody wrote bar. It’s not my fault.

Rob Huebel  37:35

Because I’m breaking the rules here. This is something my wife just purchased. Oh, okay, which I wanted to get your guys opinion about it, because I don’t want my wife to get ripped off, and I don’t know enough about strapless bras to know whether or not this was a rip off.

Kulap Vilaysack  37:53

So this is the price. Is $86.40 right now it’s on sale from $96 it comes in Jet Black or toasted.

SuChin Pak  38:01

Wait, is it for two bras? Oh, it’s a bundle for two bras.

Rob Huebel  38:07

Great question. I think that’s a color option. Let’s find out. Is this two bras? I’ve only seen my wife wearing one of these bras, and she was wearing.

Kulap Vilaysack  38:17

Not gonna wear both, buddy. She’s not gonna put two on.

Rob Huebel  38:22

You don’t know how we live our lives, but she was wearing, wait, what were the color options that you gave me.

SuChin Pak  38:30

Jet Black or Toasted Almond?

Rob Huebel  38:32

So my girl is toasted almond, and my wife is gonna be so mad if she listens to this. So you talked about the bra that I just bought, but Is this too much money to pay for a bra? That’s what I’m asking. That’s why I included this, right? That’s not.

Kulap Vilaysack  38:47

What more importantly, what do you think after coming off of your $32 ball pouch.

Rob Huebel  38:54

And my $145 jump rope, correct.

Kulap Vilaysack  38:57

But do you think that this is too much? What like? Just curious, what does a husband think a bra, right?

Rob Huebel  39:04

That seemed like a lot of money for a bra to me, not knowing anything about it. I never, I don’t, I don’t check on my wife. I don’t tell her what to buy or what not to buy. She’s her own person. She does her own thing. But when I saw that, I was like, what is that? And she’s like, Oh, it’s this new strapless bra. And I was like, Oh, I’m doing this cool op institutions podcast. You got to send me that link. So she sent it to me, and I wanted to open it up for discussion, because to me, $86 seems like a lot of money for.

Kulap Vilaysack  39:31

Buddy. And I think it’s, I think it’s for two bras too. So it’s even, it’s, this is like, dirt cheap guys.

Rob Huebel  39:36

It doesn’t even have straps. Okay, it should cost less money because it doesn’t have straps. Straps? Yeah, I would pay $86 no straps. What am I paying for? What am I doing?

Kulap Vilaysack  39:50

Buddy? You’re paying for lightly padded foam cups, wire free, so there’s no poke.

Rob Huebel  39:56

Okay, get my you keep my wife’s name out of your mouth, okay? Lightly completely padded. Okay, what is that supposed to mean?

Kulap Vilaysack  40:03

No, it’s, we’re shaping, bro.

Rob Huebel  40:05

Okay, all right.

SuChin Pak  40:08

I don’t, I’m not sure why his name was toasted almond. Now, I’m really confused.

Kulap Vilaysack  40:13

My wife’s name is toasted buddy, but if you knew how much my bras were, like, I’m so afraid to tell you, like, okay,

Rob Huebel  40:19

Well, that, well, great. That’s why we’re talking about all this. So, so, okay, maybe she made a great purchase. And I should, you know, we should stop fighting about it, because we’ve been fighting non stop.

Kulap Vilaysack  40:32

Now, Rob like is it.

SuChin Pak  40:35

All just about the problem?

Rob Huebel  40:38

Yeah, our couples therapists, like, guys, this has been six weeks, we have to move on. And we said, Terry, sit down. Shut your mouth. That’s our therapist.

Kulap Vilaysack  41:15

Okay, wait one more. One more thing, Rob.

Rob Huebel  43:08

Yeah, and this is something I have not purchased, but.

SuChin Pak  44:37

I love it.

Kulap Vilaysack  44:40

It is a mobile phone jail cell. It’s got, it looks like you put your phone in, like it’s in prison. There’s a there’s a lock on it.

Rob Huebel  44:50

Yeah.

Kulap Vilaysack  44:52

And it looks like a jail. It looks like a little, little prison, it’s $12.98.

Rob Huebel  44:58

it’s a mobile phone, jail. Cell where I don’t know that I’m at this point yet, but eventually I may need to lock up my phone to spend time with my family, to connect with my wife, to have meaningful conversations, and get off Instagram, you know, so I don’t know. Do I need this little jail cell?

Kulap Vilaysack  45:19

Well, can I ask Rob. I think it’s adorable. And it puts a little puts a little whimsy into something that could be a very touchy subject, you know, like, let’s put our phones away. Everyone’s like, oh, particular. And then he pulls out a little mini jail, and everybody has a laugh. And then family time. Now, the first question that I have is is, how did you even get here just out of curiosity, like, what search led you to?

Rob Huebel  45:46

Do you want me to tell the story?

Kulap Vilaysack  45:48

Yeah.

Rob Huebel  45:49

Okay, my wife and I were doing what we always do, fighting about the strapless bra, and I was on my phone, and she said, Why don’t you look at me when we’re arguing, and I said, I’m on Instagram right now. And she said, Look at me. Let’s figure out this strapless bra situation. And I said, Well, maybe I’ll get off my phone if we can put him in jail. And I said that as a joke. And then I went online and Googled it, and sure enough, there’s a tiny little jail for cell phones. No, I don’t know. I was just looking around on the internet, and this just popped up. And I thought, I think this came up on Instagram or something like that. And I thought, that’s got it funny and but you can see in this picture, if you look at this item, there is a real padlock, which could be a disaster, because if you the padlock number one, what if you lose the key? You lose What if you lose the key? So you lock your phones in there, thinking like, Oh, this is cute. We’re on vacation. We’re just going to spend time with each other. Ha, ha, ha, let’s go ride horses on the beach. We come back to the hotel room. This is all imaginary. I’m just imagining the situation. We come back to the hotel room. Oh, do you have the key? I don’t have the key. Do you? I fucking told you, you, I told you you have the key, and now your phones are locked.

Kulap Vilaysack  47:09

The solution is, is Add to Cart a wire cutter, and you pack that on your vacation, put it in your little inside pocket.

Rob Huebel  47:16

Blow torch that you can take with you on a plane, and so you could melt this whole thing. Yeah, I don’t know what this thing’s made of. I don’t know whether it’s made of steel or.

Kulap Vilaysack  47:28

No, I Rob, I think it’s fair to say, at 12.98 it’s not made of titanium steel.

Rob Huebel  47:34

Okay, yeah, it’s probably made of plastic. It’s probably a joke. But this seems like something that I might need shortly, because I’m I’m on my phone too much.

Kulap Vilaysack  47:46

Well, I know that I need it and I resist it.

Rob Huebel  47:49

Yeah, my daughter said to me the other day, she said, I’ve never seen your face before. I’ve only seen the top of your head because you’re always looking at your phone. And I was like, How old are you? She said, 25 and I was like, Oh my gosh I thought.

Kulap Vilaysack  48:01

The cats in the cradle […]

Rob Huebel  48:08

Kulap, we don’t have the rights to that song. Yeah, so I don’t, I don’t know this seems like I probably won’t buy this.

Kulap Vilaysack  48:16

No, but I get the thought behind it.

SuChin Pak  48:18

And it’s a noble thought, and we should all be thinking about I just downloaded this app. I haven’t even tried it. I saw someone, ironically on Instagram talk about it. It’s called One sec, one sec. And the way he described it is, is that it basically, anytime you launch whatever social media app, it makes you wait, like five everything’s itchy.

Kulap Vilaysack  48:48

Everything’s itchy. I don’t like it.

Rob Huebel  48:51

My boobs are sweating. I don’t like it. That’s what the company does. There’s some companies.

Kulap Vilaysack  49:02

The app is basically to have, like, I will give you bad internet. That’s what, it is.

SuChin Pak  49:07

You guys sound like two raging addicts. Is what you sound like. You sound like two fiends in a corner.

Kulap Vilaysack  49:13

We are.

Rob Huebel  49:16

Maniac would pay for an app to delay gratification. What is that teaching you delay gratification? How dare you?

SuChin Pak  49:26

It’s helping you break free from distractions in the long term. This is what it’s promising you here, and I’m just offering it up. Okay, you brought up the jail.

Rob Huebel  49:36

I don’t like that. You downloaded it. I mean that means that, like, you downloaded it, you’re gonna start doing it. So people will be saying, like, Oh, let me just chat with suchin on. Oh, she’s not on right now, because there’s a delay.

Kulap Vilaysack  49:52

Five seconds. That’s a lifetime, yeah?

Rob Huebel  49:55

Well,  that is a lifetime.

SuChin Pak  49:56

Supposed to be you life.

Rob Huebel  49:58

I don’t want that yesterday. Day, my neighbor’s tree fell down across the street. This is a real thing. Guys, watch out these trees. They’re out for us, man. And so anyway, this tree could have killed me. It didn’t, because I happened to be in my house. But if I was walking on that side of the street, close at all, not close at all, not close at all to me. But you know, had I been on the sidewalk on the other side of the street, this giant oak tree would have killed me, and I wouldn’t be able to do this podcast right now. I’d be dead.

Kulap Vilaysack  50:27

But anyway, that’s perspective. Yeah, you’re right.

Rob Huebel  50:30

He came outside, and I was like, oh, you know, that’s crazy. I can’t believe this old oak tree fell, you know, in your yard. And he was like, yeah, the worst part is, my internet’s out, and I can’t get on the internet, and so I spent so much time consoling this poor man about his internet situation, and now I’m on this podcast talking to you about how to slow down your internet, which I just don’t get it. I think it’s a big mistake, and I hope that you don’t use that app. I’m very emotional about I know I sound like I’m getting upset, emotionally like and I’m gonna cry, and I don’t feel like I’m gonna cry. I am a little bit tired. I probably could cry, but I don’t want you to use that app.

SuChin Pak  51:13

Wow, okay, so no jail, no app, full top of head, 25 years.

Kulap Vilaysack  51:23

Full top of head, yes, cool ball, no shirt.

SuChin Pak  51:26

No straps on bras.

Kulap Vilaysack  51:33

Got it.

Rob Huebel  51:34

You get me. You girls get me.

Kulap Vilaysack  51:36

This is a Tinder profile that I am swiping on right.

Rob Huebel  51:43

Are your how? This is a whole other podcast again. Are your kids? Cool up, please say no. Are your kids on the internet? Are they on do they have phones and stuff?

Kulap Vilaysack  51:53

No she is always, because it makes sense, because we’re so interested in our phones, but she is reaching, wanting, like, to the point where I’ve like, Oh, I’ll buy her a V Tech Kids phone that lights up. But she knows. She knows, because we’re not that interested in that phone. She knows.

SuChin Pak  52:13

How old are your kids?

Rob Huebel  52:14

I just have one, and she is about to be seven, so she’s six right now. And here’s the I mean, this is a whole other story, but she’s starting a new school where we live, and the school is like, no screens. We don’t do screens here. Like, no screens. And my wife and I were like, wait, but no, but some screens. And they’re like, no, no, no, like, no screens, and we’re like, no, but some screens.

Kulap Vilaysack  52:40

Interesting.

Rob Huebel  52:41

Yeah, so and so we’re so we have to, kind of, like, this summer has been, like, we got to try to, like, wean her off of, she doesn’t do it a ton. You know, she does, like, Khan Academy. It’s like, it’s like a learning app that has, like, fun games and stuff for kids. And so she does that a lot. And she likes to do little games and stuff where she can kind of draw she’s not like on the internet or anything so. But anyway, we got to get it all out of here. We can’t, you know her. We the school.

Kulap Vilaysack  53:10

We’ve been the school saying no, no screens at your house too.

Rob Huebel  53:13

Yes oh, no screen. No screens in our in her life.

Kulap Vilaysack  53:17

Oh my God, in her life.

Rob Huebel  53:20

Oh, I thought you school, Rob, this is no.

SuChin Pak  53:23

Your daughter, what are you guys going to do?

Rob Huebel  53:26

I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. That’s why I brought it up. I don’t know what to do. That’s and the teacher, the teacher is coming to our house. The new teacher is.

Kulap Vilaysack  53:34

No, you’re joking.

Rob Huebel  53:37

She’s not. Oh, to be clear, she’s coming here just to meet, she’s a new teacher, and this is a new class. So she’s gonna, like, meet, you know, meet our daughter before the school year starts. And so, which I thought was very sweet.

Kulap Vilaysack  53:50

She sees a screen, she’ll write your ass up.

Rob Huebel  53:51

That’s, oh, yeah. I’m gonna have to, like, take our TV and throw it in the class.

SuChin Pak  53:56

I’ve never heard of this. I this is some first year that this has happened, I’m very curious to see how you guys, you know how it kind of feels.

Rob Huebel  54:07

You and me, both, because it’s gonna be.

SuChin Pak  54:10

Listen, the screen is more for us. I definitely know that I benefit from that screen, yes, way more than my child like traveling, traveling in an airplane.

Rob Huebel  54:24

driving in a restaurant, get out of here. Give my child this iPad. Yeah, I don’t think that we’re I hope nobody from the school is listening to this, but I don’t know if we can do it, and we might have to be. We might have to teach our daughter the importance of lying. You know, like professional, I am a professional actor, which means I’m a liar. I play characters, you know?

Kulap Vilaysack  54:50

So I’m gonna say, yeah.

Rob Huebel  54:51

Yeah, I’m gonna say, Honey, you’re playing a character for the next however long you go to the school your character does not use screens. But when you come home, you can break character, and we’ll, you know, so I don’t know. I don’t know how it’s gonna go.

Kulap Vilaysack  55:06

Wow I mean, I yeah, because initially I was just like, Oh yeah, okay, I see it. No, you can’t use iPads. They’re not using, you know, any sort of TVs in her school. But then it’s like, into […]

Rob Huebel  55:18

Yeah, yeah. So I don’t know.

Kulap Vilaysack  55:23

Well, lots to follow up on Rob.

Rob Huebel  55:26

I ended it on a real bummer.

SuChin Pak  55:29

My mind.

Rob Huebel  55:30

I know, I know. Well, we’ll have to check back. This is what I do when I come on a podcast. I do a little trick where I trick the people into having me on again, you know? Because.

Kulap Vilaysack  55:41

Yeah we call you the cliffhanger.

Rob Huebel  55:45

By the way, I thought that I’d been on this podcast before.

Kulap Vilaysack  55:47

Oh, my God, you didn’t see this email exchange.

Rob Huebel  55:50

There were several emails such in where I was like, Kulap. I’ve been on the pot cool. I was like, Hubel, you have not.

Kulap Vilaysack  55:57

No, I was on your show, no we were talking about this sex toy that I had.

Rob Huebel  56:04

It’s not a sex toy. It’s a whip I have.

Kulap Vilaysack  56:07

That’s a whip called the stinger.

SuChin Pak  56:09

Oh, god, you guys the cliffhangers on this.

Rob Huebel  56:12

I know. But anyway, I thought I’d been on the show before, and I had even created a false memory where I had done all this like I could remember in my mind what this zoom looked like. Yeah. I mean, I would have gone to court and said, Oh, Your Honor, I’ve absolutely been on this podcast before.

Kulap Vilaysack  56:29

Rob, where can we find more of you? What’s this?

Rob Huebel  56:33

Nowhere. I’m on strike, nowhere, no. Me and Paul Scheer do a show on Twitch on Thursdays, it’s twitch. You know, slash friend zone is the thing but.

Kulap Vilaysack  56:47

You were recently written about in the LA Times.

Rob Huebel  56:51

I’m worried about promoting stuff, am I? I don’t think I’m supposed to be promoting

Kulap Vilaysack  56:55

But Twitch is okay. Oh, Twitch is okay.

Rob Huebel  56:59

Yeah, our Twitch show got written about in the LA Times. To be clear, we were not the guy that caused that mayhem in Union Square in New York. There was recently a guy in New York.

Kulap Vilaysack  57:11

I know, but you do? You do offer free PS five?

Rob Huebel  57:16

We do give away free PS five that just was not our day. That was a different guy doing that. We do that all the time. Well, I love you guys. I’m coming over to your houses, and I want to tell you guys how much I appreciate you having me on the podcast.

Kulap Vilaysack  57:32

Oh, this was enough. You just saying it here. You don’t need to come over.

Rob Huebel  57:37

No, it’s alright.

SuChin Pak  57:37

Yeah, that’s plenty.

Rob Huebel  57:38

What’s everybody’s home address? Feeling lonely, what’s everybody’s home address? Just put it in the chat. Let me look in the chat.

Kulap Vilaysack  57:45
